According to Hits Daily Double, rapper 50 Cent‘s album ‘Before I Self Destruct’ is on course to sell just 150, 000 copies first week, enough only to secure a #3 or #4 debut.
While decent numbers for some artists in this current climate, this has to come as a disappointment to ol’ Fiddy considering a) how much he trash talks other folks and b) how much he’s sold in the past. There’s no doubt in my mind that these sales will be blamed on the leaking of the album several weeks ahead of release; however the last time I checked, everyone and their mother’s record seems to hit the wonderful world of the Internet prior to hitting shops.
It seems as if Curtis is set to have his Ja Rule moment…ouch.

Remember this is TWO WEEKS of sales, too. Since Billboard gave him the grace of cobbling on two weeks of digital sales so as to not make it look even miserable….

It’s unclear if Hits Daily Double is counting exclusive Itunes sales last week of 46,000 units.
If not, sales will be 180-200k. A very twisted policy if you ask me. If you’re gonna push a release up a week, then take the consequences. It’s the record labels fault if they can’t contain their album. Billboard shouldn’t be bending over for 50 cent. Either way, the sales are pathetic and the reviews are horrible.

Wow, you all are straight hating and it seems you haven’t even listened to the album. Read an article and all of a sudden you think you know how good the album is. Bottom line is, 1.) 50 is still paid as shit because he is so much more than a “rapper,” as his business savvy is far greater than most in the biz….. and 2.) the album is his best since get rich or die tryin; he brings it hard on the WHOLE album and just KILLS IT on 4 or 5 of the tracks. Even the so called experts writing reviews on the album say it’s a good album, his second best, and he’s back to his old flow; although it hasn’t sold as well as it was projected to. a good album nonetheless.

It always seems to make me laugh that there are so many people that hate this man, because he’s done so well and represents what others only dream of becoming. Because he’s made a way for himself and oh, only ended up in a #3 spot, I guess that’s considered a failure?? (but only by the people who want to see him fail). To fair 50 got a lot less hits on this album regardless.. To most levels this album is different in all sense but around the same level as Curtis as for the sales figures didnt expect anything extravagant but i didnt expect it to be this low,,,, to some extent between the drawn out release date and leak, interest would have been lost (sales from the leak). Expected around 250 to 300K. Hell most of these so called rappers are watered down. Mr “American Gangsta” with the “Blueprint 3″ at least B3 was fractionally better than his previous.
Back to 50 u got some crazy hot tracks on mixtapes that would blows up like nukes consider leaving a few for albums…

I love 50 cent. Like Ice T said, “He is the last true gangster rapper.” I appreciate 50 for telling his life story and understanding his comment to be real and expose the truth about other rappers. If I put myself in his shoes and what happen in his life, then I understand his angrier and his music.
