As previously reported, our good friends over at Rap-Up caught up with Kelly Rowland on the set of her eagerly awaited ‘Commander’ video earlier this week.
In this latest part of the interview, the Destiny’s Child alumni speaks on working with producers such as Dr Luke (Britney Spears), Stargate, Ne-Yo, and Jim Jonsin, as well as her wish to collaborate with with T.I. and Diddy, and more. Check it out below….

” UNITY ” by Kelly Rowland is one of her best songs all-time and was never released in North America. One of the most beautiful ballads in recent memory. Can’t wait to hear this one live in 2010 along with Commander <3 <3 – Go Kelly !
Kelly’s record is actually pretty good, and I actually prefer it to ‘Love takes over’.
I give Kelly the credit in trying something different, instead of trolling out the samey R&B rubbish that too many American artists are putting out currently. All these artists Beyonce, Rihanna, Keri Hilson and a lot of male artists all sound the same. The trouble is that it sells because mosts Americans are tone deaf and their music appeals to the American lack of originality. The only time I liked Beyonce’s music was when it was remixed by the Freemasons and it gave it some drive!!
Kelly’s record is a little different, and more European sounding and I suspect will do well in Europe and Australasia but not the US as it wont penetrate the wax that lodges in most Americans ears.
Carry on Kelly, personally I think that you are in the right music genre (dance) and are heading in the right direction.
Keith I agree. I’m from houston texas and I have never been into dance music. Kelly has open my mind up to different sounds. I appreciate that from her she’s letting her fans know that there’s more than one genre. there’s more than one country. Atleast that’s what she reminded me.

Good interview for the most part…..which is something that I had to start pointing out because contrary to popular belief, some interviews are some people’s kryptonite (see: Chris Brown) …..but she needs to fire that makeup artist STAT.
I think what @RihannasClit was saying was that this video look that Kelly’s trying to pull off is not original, even though her and her stans swear up and down that it is *side eye* which I too pointed out a couple of times as well. The cover art for her Commander single was beyond fierce but this video look gets a *yawn*. That song is actually starting to grow on me! I heard it in the club over the weekend.
