Singer-songwriter The-Dream is set to follow up his last single ‘Love King’ with the T.I-assisted ‘Make Up Bag’. Check it out below…
Despite being immensely talented, I’m increasingly finding that Dream’s body of work for other artists tends to far outdo the quality of his own music. Like the majority of his songs, ‘Make Up Bag’ is indeed catchy, yet that’s pretty much where the ‘good’ starts and stops.
The uberly repetitive chorus, while arguably infectious, cheapens the song (surely something other than “make up bag” repeated x10 would suffice?). While lyrically and on the production tip, the song serves up little of substance and doesn’t do much to distance itself from anything he’s released prior to now.
Some three albums deep, one would think there’d be some variation in his music, yet each release continues to sound like it would fit comfortably on his first album. A fact which has me thinking, perhaps some people are better suited to behind the scenes. Just saying…
Sam sweetie, I didn’t intend on coming here and throwing shade, but I laugh to myself every time you post your little “commentary” about something. This is a perfect example of how completely stupid you are. For example, when Kelly Rowland repeated “I’ll be your commander” 10 times on her debut single, you called it “amazing”. Fast forward to another artist whom you don’t stan for, and you’re saying repetition cheapens the song. Can you ever have an opinion that isn’t completely biased, and always in favor of Kelly? Sweetie you fail. I’m glad everyone has started noticing how dumb you and Trent sound when you try to add your little 2 cents of commentary. You can’t praise something that one artist does and throw shade at other artists who do it, and still expect to be taken seriously. Both of you queens are so pathetic it’s laughable.

I love The-Dream and even though this may not be his be song ever ….. I still ADORE him. Love vs Money is one of my best album ever. However, I do have to admitt that he’s giving away his best stuff (umbrella, single ladies, etc…) and should perhaps try to keep 1 – 2 awesome songs for himself.

Thank You Gucci, he is so biased to any artist he doesn’t feature, Kelly sound horrible live, but Sam would consider it a great performance. He often contradicts himself.
I actually agree with @Gucci…….Sam and Trent are delusional stans. I still love this blog but it’s ultimate stan-esque to LOVE everything Kelly does. Smh.
Anyways, I like the song and I like The Dream. His last CD was bomb! That was my ish.
@HIHIHIHI when Sam said ‘talented’ I’m thinking he was referring to his ability to write and produce. Singing, dancing,and performing aren’t the only talents one can possess.
