Her tone and type of runs. Her non-diction on some words is typical Mo’ and the big GOSPEL ending is sooooooo Mo’.
I loved the way she came into the Anthem soothingly.
He ending was also different and no1’s done it like that..

I think Monica was definitely not so easy on the ears. I thought there were some parts that were a little too “big” for her vocal abilities. I’m glad she did the Whitney version it was quite gutsy of her. It was a decent effort.

No ma’am. She sounded a hot mess! I like Monica, but there are some things that she’s just not able to sing and this is one of them. She lacks control. Not only that, but she sounded like a machine gun with all that vibrato. Too much. And the background singers idea was a bit off the wall. Sorry. 🙁

Im always about telling the truth, so here it is…..Mo has done the anthem with and without music on grand scales before and each time she sang it differently. Mo gets love because of how she wont jump on trends, shes got theses R&B/pop girls scared to death, back to the post, Monica does what she does best, which is to be her. I appreciate an artist artistry……thats what make Mo different, she’s always done things her way. Keep it up Mo. Someone said Mo Sounded like she was leading Praise & Worship and the background was the praise team. Keep talking you haters……just means Mo really is killing the game!

What i absolutely love is how Monica adds something different each time she does it.

She sounded really throat-irritated, maybe that is why they had the backup singers. But every singer has their bad days.
Monica’s performance was GREAT! But what’s wrong with JEFF’s ears. Beyonce is also a great vocalist, she sings beautifully with or without the echo. Didn’t you hear her serenade the first couple for their first dance and countless other live performances. She has more than proved and earned her status as a recognized seasoned vocalist. Britney does not deserve to be placed in the same sentence with Beyonce or Monica for that matter.
I didn’t think Monica sounded sick at all. I think that’s just her tone. Monica does tend to oversing a bit, but I think she gave a strong rendition and added a few soulful twists. BTW, I think Marvin Gaye’s version is the most original and soulful I’ve ever heard. Of course I’d expect no less from him.
I’m a fan of Monica and I think she did a great job. Now who I think did the best is Marvin Gaye and those that follows are Whitney, Beyonce, DC together,Jordin Sparks, Carrie Underwood and JHud.
