Get ready for a new Michael Jackson album to hit stores this November. A rep for the King of Pop’s estate has revealed that the record features 10 previously unreleased tracks will be made available as part of a 7-year deal via Sony Music worth over $250 million. Check out what Jackson’s manager, Frank DiLeo, had to say about the project below:
“There are a couple of songs we recorded for the ‘Bad’ album that we had to cut that are just sensational,” DiLeo said.
“Every time that [Jackson] recorded, he over-recorded. He would record anywhere from 20 to 30 songs for each album,” former Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola told RS last year. Any of them could have been as big a hit as the ones that came out.” One of the most noteworthy tracks was a “Thriller” outtake titled “Don’t Be Messin’ Around.” Other candidates include any of the reported five songs that Jackson recorded with Will.i.am. {Source}
As much as everyone wants to hear new material from Jackson I sense that if he wanted the songs to be released then he would have done so a long time ago. This is just another opportunity for the major companies to profit off of a man who they paid little interest to in life. This has Joe Jackson (AKA Mathew Knowles) & his teams name all over it. There just trying to make more PAYOLA. But Sadly MJ will not be garnering sells any better than that of the other mainstream acts are selling these days. We are no longer in his prime. Why werent they doing all this B4 he died so they could atleast have the man’s permission.
Of course its being done for profit, but then again everything the major labels do is for profit, so they’re not treating him any differently to any other artists on their roster. Plus he’s gone – so either you believe he’s up in heaven – in which case he’s going to have better things on his mind than if someone’s selling his unreleased songs, or you believe he’s just gone period in which case he isn’t going to be bothered either. I think the key thing to how this will go down with people will be the quality of the songs – were they really just things he decided not to release because they weren’t good enough or are they really fantastic songs? If the second then I think most fans would want to hear them.

Anyway I will not be buying this CD it;s just some money making scheme.They didn’t pay attention to him when it was most important and now all of a sudden it’s “oh we want to release previously recorded tracks for a new record”. MJ was an obvious perfectionist and if he chose not to release those songs ( although i know they’re gonna be good) he did it for a reason.
They released “This Is IT” and although it’s an okay it’s not a song that MJ would’ve wanted to be released, that’s why he didn’t bother to include it in Bad.
And by the way they are so stupid in releasing that song just because of the name. Michael singing about loving some woman had NOTHING to do with his This Is It concerts. They lied and lied saying that MJ recorded a song for his concerts. As soon as i heard the song, i immediately noticed 3 things. 1. it sounded like an 80s song. 2. he sounded young. 3. he was singing about some woman. Anyway…I don’t think Michael would mind that this music is being released because, for one, the money made off the albums will go to the estate which will benefit Michael’s Mother and children.
Two, because Michael often released his own unreleased material on compilation albums and rereleases. For example, When he rereleased the Thriller Special edition album back in 2000 0r 2001, (not the 25th anniversary edition) it had a few unreleased tracks on it including CAROUSEL (my favorite MJ song of all time). Unfortunately it only had the 1:49 version of the song on it, but I found out the Japanese version had the full song so I had to get that.
Also, on the UltImate Collection, it had a whole bunch of unreleased songs including demos!! Songs that weren’t even finished. I couldn’t get that box set when it came out because it was so dang expensive because it came with so much stuff. Can’t even imagine how much it costs now. 🙁
And finally, Michael was talking about how he “out thinked” SONY because they wanted a best of album with two new songs. Michael was bragging about how he has 100’s of unreleased tracks so he just put one of them on the album that became Number One’s. The song was One More Chance (which we would of had a video for if it wasn’t for those stupid allegations).

Well maybe that’s true for you. For me I got 49 Beyonce tracks, 250 Madonna tracks and 431 Kylie tracks out of 11869 total. Retailers can’t keep Jackson’s albums on the shelves and continue to report sellouts of everything Michael Jackson related. Many report it’s not Jackson’s generation that’s driving sales, but rather, the younger crowd are snatching up Jackson merchandise left and right.
Breaking records even now, at Billboard Jackson has the top 3 best selling albums in the country with “Thriller” being #1, “The Essential Michael Jackson” at #2, and “Number Ones” coming in at #3 this week.
It is the first time in history, according to Billboard, an older album outsold the number one new album in the country.
