New Video: Cheryl Cole – ‘The Flood’

Published: Wednesday 24th Nov 2010 by Sam

Non-singing ‘singer’ Cheryl Cole today premièred the video for her latest single ‘The Flood’ on 4Music. Produced by Wayne Wilkins, the song serves as the follow-up to Cole’s #1 smash ‘Promise This’.

Check out the video below…

Not bad, not great. Regardless, it’s hardly going to matter. Fortunately for Cole the machine trumpeting her as the next big thing has become so pervasive that she could bottle up her farts and it’d still sell by the box-load.

It’s a shame so many are quick to buy into this new model of stardom. Gone, it seems, are the days where an artist had to possess actual talent or really work for success. To put it into perspective; off the back of her many endorsement deals and X-Factor ‘fame’, Cole needed only to perform her last single once before hitting the top spot; performing it twice in total to-date. At least her US talent-challenged counterpart, Rihanna, brings her brand of terrifying vocals onto any and every stage that’ll have her.

When will the industry learn that producing such flavour of the moment acts will only serve to its detriment in the long run? For producing such fodder may quickly fill up the pockets illegal downloading so sneakily picked from, yet will only serve to further implode an industry once-rich in raw talent and equal opportunity. Sigh…

Atleast Rihanna delivers great catchy songs. Cheryl hasnt done that yet; well aside from fight for this love which was tolerable at best. *sigh*

  8. FUTURESTARdelux November 24, 2010

Funny how they’ll post Chav cole but always ignore Kylie who has been in the industry 20 years and sold 70m… #FAIL

Anyway the video is just a rip off of The Saturdays “Issues” and Sade’s “No ordinary love” and the song is whack, at least since it’s a ballad she can’t use the “i was dancing so couldn’t sing live” excuse, we’ll either get to see her humiliate herself with her s***** real vocals or she’ll mime and be taken the p*** out of.

“Gone, it seems, are the days where an artist had to possess actual talent or really work for success.”

I’m sorry, you’re either f****** mad or you’ve never heard of Girls Aloud. you’re a right daft shithead mate, do some f****** research or leave the “writing” to the professionals.

  18. Teflon Boy November 26, 2010

@ALEX…, you’re right, she worked her as off in Girls Aloud but only so she could put her feet up as Cheryl Cole. Girls Aloud is a separate act that delivered time and again, Cheryl was the looker and mouthpiece of that group…, not the singer. And possibly that’s why she’s getting such a backlash now because (amongst other things) after three seasons judging a singing contest she still hasn’t proved she’s any better than some of the X Factor’s worst contestants and only displays that on tracks like Jump etc. her mic was likely turned all the way down in the studio.

Also, most of the people who come on this blog are I would think are music/music industry enthusiasts. The majority of people tuning into X Factor and buying Cole’s wares are the Big Brother, I’m A Celeb, Katie and Peter, The Only Way Is Essex watching and Daily Sun reading brigade…., and Hmmm talent is not big on that demographic’s priorities, hence Cole’s Messiah-like status.

ok the chorus is good and its a good song….but anyone coulda sung this…..AND PLEASE NOTICE THAT THE ADLIBS AND THE BACKING VOCALS ARE NOT HER………THE GOOD THING ABOUT THE SONG IS THAT THE PERSON SINGING IN THE BACKGROUND ISNT HER …….CHERYL SHUDNT BE A SINGER OR MAYBE SHE SHOULD TRY HER HAND AT BEING A ROCK SINGER AS IT MAY NOT REQUIRE MUCH VOCAL ABILITY
