Fiona’s VEVO spot will stand-out to fans, who’ve noted how little her project has been promoted thus far. So heated have a select few been, that they’ve vented their frustrations at the singer’s label head Steve Rifkind on Twitter.
However, the SRC/Universal Music exec isn’t one to back down, taking on fans who expressed their displeasure with him taking a meeting with R&B star Ciara, while Fiona’s album sits unreleased.

I watched and I didn’t see any label drama. Yet.
The thing is, in this era, nobody is safe just by being signed on a label. Ciara, Kelly Rowland, Lupe Fiasco, Jasmine Sullivan and many others have experienced that: mainstream music is about the sales and the fanbase. The music has to be catchy but also the artist has to urge people to buy the album.
Ciara is a bigger name than Melanie anyway. Melanie has the whole package to do better but she’s not there yet. She should just keep pushing.
