Willow Smith may have whipped the industry into a frenzy last year with ‘Whip My Hair’, however follow-up effort ’21st Century Girl’ fizzled upon release this March.
Hoping the masses forget the latter’s #99 peak on the Billboard Hot 100, Smith’s team have announced plans for a 3rd single.

According to AOL Music, the child wonder (10) is to release ‘Rock Star’ as her next single offering. The personality-packed cut serves as the audio backdrop in this promo clip of the youngster preparing for her Kids Choice Awards 2011 performance.

Jury’s still out on this one. However, with the initial novelty surrounding Willow having worn off, it’s important her material doesn’t just deliver -it has to knock the ball out the park. Way out. Which judging by this, it doesn’t.
Still, aged just 10; Ms. Smith posses talent and charisma acts double, even triple, her age can only wish for (“oh na na”). Hence, her future remains blindingly bright.

Nope… they really screwed this up. What audience is her music supposed to be catering to? It’s just not appealing for any group, kids nor adults. Ironically, Whip My Hair was so successful because it did just that… appealed to kids and adult audiences. Something told me that Whip My Hair was a total fluke.

Yes, her bit roles were gaining her a nice buzz. A flop 1st CD wont stop her but didn’t have to happen. 10 is way too young to be placed in the adult music industry. If she were only marketed to the “Mickey Mouse Club” I could understand but the mass appeal of her 1st single (with the media’s help of course) has placed her in a peculiar situation. I don’t think she will see that sort of mass acceptance with another single IMO!

She can release what ever she wants at this age, 21t centuary girl and this new song dont sound great but their good enough for a 10 year old. If her album follows suite it will be a solid pop album. She’s got plenty of time to build a more loyal audience, in the mean time she can just experiment and release music. shes already has a 7-10 year head start beyond any other pop/rnb singer in recent history

I can’t believe this creature is considered a person in the United States.
She is just way too young to be releasing singles. I believe that singers (no matter how good they are) should wait until they are 18 (or 16 at least) to release music.
