North Carolinian emcee J. Cole may be the latest hip-hop hitmaker to find his album prematurely leaking online, but he’s taking it all in stride. Most recently speaking with VIBE, the Roc Nation rapper, whose debut album ‘Cole World: A Sideline Story’ is due in stores September 27th, is quoted saying:
“There’s been worse leaks than that so I understand it’s a part of the game, I always understood that. As long as people hear it together, it’s cool. It’s kind of like promotion these days—if you got a good album. If you don’t have a good album—they’ll just trash you.”
In the brief interview with the Urban publication, the rapper also touched on pre-album release jitters and hinted on what fans could expect from the leaked LP. Hear this and more after the jump:

I think its a damn shame artists have to put up with this sort of crap. Ppl boot-legging CDs make me sick! IIf you like the artist, purchase their hard work!! I’m not a fan of J. Cole (he’s okay) but this crap of leaking CDs is crazy!!
I see Jay-Z & Kanye’s CD did not leak. This s*** is f***** crazy. When we all heard that Jay-Z was upset about the leak pictures, a rumor came out tha Jay was dropping hlim. Jay also said that he was not going to be apart of promoting him either. Was there really a sextape? J. Cole hold your head up and keep your eyes and ears open.

Anyway,this isn’t new…MOST of the albums that came out this year leaked regardless of if it sold 1 million copies or only one copy.
I was 50/50 going to download the leak but I didn’t because I have respect for Cole and his music… I’ll wait till September 27th…. I’ve already pre-ordered it on Itunes…
Jay Z really didn’t do any promo for cole. :/ Mad at the up and coming i guess.
I didn’t even know that the album leaked. I think what he’s saying is true though. If an album leaks, it’s actually either good or bad promotion. If the album is good, people will buy it when it is released, but if it’s bad then you wish that it wasn’t leaked.
