After rescheduling a series of dates on the sell-out Australian leg of her ‘Number Ones Tour’, Janet Jackson will today be feeling the brunt of her fans Down Under. For, she has announced that tonight’s show in Sydney has been cancelled due to doctors ordering her to go on “vocal rest”. Yes, we know.

A statement on the superstar’s official site read:
It is with regret that Dainty Group announces that tonight’s Janet Jackson Number Ones: Up Close and Personal concert, at the Sydney Opera House, cannot proceed.
Doctors have ordered Miss Jackson to undertake vocal rest for the next 2 days, so she can complete the 3rd and final show of her Australian tour, this Tuesday night at the Sydney Opera House.
Unfortunately, there will not be a replacement concert scheduled, so all patrons will receive a full refund at the Sydney Opera House Box office tonight or from the point of purchase.

Granted anything is possible, we’ve seen the show live in London. And while we thoroughly enjoyed (she quite effortlessly is still slaying at 45), it’s fair to say her vocals were “well rested” for the bulk of the night.
I suspect the postponement may have something to do with the handing down of the verdict in the trial of Dr Conrad Murray (the man accused of killing her brother, Michael). A verdict which many expect could come as early as tomorrow.
Whatever the case, we wish Janet a speedy recovery.

I was in the Sydney opera house in VIP foyer. We had just started drink rounds, We were just about to enter the VELVET ROPE GALLERY and get our VIP BAG. We could see the gallery in the next glass room of the concert room being prepped for us….
Sadly – no. that’s when we got the news.
12YEARS SINCE I LAST SEEN JANET PERFORM!
Basically – Management were all apologetic.
Apparently a full refund will be given. No details were supplied to us of a rescheduled show. The official statement says there will not be one.
Fans were pissed. There were cusses and tears. People had travelled to get to these shows. And a simple letter of cancellation, a call to all ticket holders ONE HOUR before the show.
Sad.
VIP guests asked for the VIP merchandise as a conciliation – we were told no. As they are all allocated AND IF the show is rescheduled it would be issues to that Show.
We offered to BUY the merchandise – sadly there was no arrangement in place to process the transaction.
If there are any tickets left for Tuesday show – we will be offered priority.
I am devastated that I was so close.
Luckily I had seen the Sat night (5TH NOV) in 6th row.
She was amazing. She sure as hell sounded fine in my opinion.
She thanked the crowd for being so supportive, Shared some personal details and said the family always discuss Australia tours being one of the most fun with the crowd.
Sydney was the one She was waiting for – this is is it.
I don’t believe the illness. I do believe she is heading back to hear about the trial outcome. So we’ll see if She’s “Bed rest” is in her OWN bed.

They have opened up BOX E rows 1-5 and BOX Y rows 1-5 exclusively for VIPS of the cancelled show.
Original Tickets will be refunded minus VIP experience – cover charge.
So assuming this cost value – VIP upgrade was $200 USD.
So back to Sydney tomorrow night for round “three”.
Glad we have a resolution.
