The last two years has seen Pop ambassador Lady GaGa lend her voice to the fight against bullying and inequality, inadvertently becoming a focal point for many contemporary civil rights issues, including marriage equality and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
Now, she has gone one step further in her bid to make the world a better place, with the conception of the ‘Born This Way’ foundation.
Details on the project below…
To be headed by she and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, the non profit organization will focus on the empowerment, career development and self confidence of the youth it hopes to help.
She explained:
Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment.
In partnership with the Germanotta’s are The California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, which stated:
This brand of leadership is sorely needed in today’s world.
Lady Gaga will help empower and give voice to young people who find themselves overwhelmed, undersupported, disconnected, isolated, bullied, or struggling.
Kudos to GaGa for doing her part to provide help to those who need it. For while many may choose to cite her support of the disenfranchised as a marketing ploy to boost sales, it is impossible to economize the positive effect this will have on all those involved.

I don’t see how my gender plays a part in my hatred towards Gaga but I am a guy. I have had a lot of gay guys and some family members be shocked that I’m not a fan of hers and so on.
But like I said before, I’m not falling for her crazy antics when it comes to standing up for the gay community.
The fact that her album was given away practically for free is proof that she’s going down faster than a fat woman sliding down a greased pole. She found a way to sell her music, she knew what community to target and it worked.
Do you honestly think Gaga would still be relevant now if she hadn’t targeted the gay community has her money making machine?

Shaking my head. This all strikes me as merely a way to keep herself in the media and employ marketing tactics by painting herself as a benevolent fairy-godmother.
Why is it headed by her and her mother? Have either of them worked for a professional organization? Do either of them have business degrees?
Why name it after a song from an album? Why not give it a genuine name that doesn’t focus entirely on her music career?
…I feel like there will be a scandal that definitely emerges from this.

Gaga is doing her geniune best to help use any influence she has to make a positive difference in some form.
Though many LGBT people may be helped by this foundation, it was NEVER said that this foundation was targeted at them alone. It is to “help eempower and give a voice to young people who find themselves overwhelmed, undersupported, disconnected, isolated, bullied, or struggling”…straight people also fall into this catergory.
I find it deeply sad that people are so bitterly cynical and look for ways to attack someone who is clearly doing something that will help people (be it if it is just one person that decides not to commit suicide).
God Bless Gaga (and the many wonderful human beings in the world that try to help support the vulnerable people out there.)

Of course some people will say she’s doing this for sales and that’s one of the kind of people this Foundation reaches to, people with no personal identity that waste their time messing with someone else’s business.
But something is certain, the relevancy and, most importantly, the quality of this foundation is to be tested with time.
I know that if she asks for voluntaries, many, many, many people will say ‘yes’ and help.
