As reported here, ‘We Break The Dawn’ belle Michelle Williams has recently toyed with the idea of breaking from her dance offerings to release new gospel music. On the heels of her 2008 criminally underrated dance album ‘Unexpected’, Williams has been crafting the sound for her 4th LP – introduced by the buzz of the upbeat ‘On the Run’.
Taking to our friends over at HipHollywood to discuss the sound of her next offerings, the ‘Hello Heartbreak’ hitmaker hinted she may be taking a trip back to her (musical) home turf. After much acclaim for her first two solo projects, 2002′s ‘Heart To Yours’ and 2004′s ‘Do You Know’, Williams says she knows the near future may see her marry the genres of her past works.
See what else Miss Michelle shared after the jump:
Ten years since her first gospel release, the venture would certainly come as a welcome inclusion to collectors of Williams’ works. How accepting the general gospel sector would be of such return is debatable. Yet, as Michelle stated, authenticity shows through in performance. And, if gospel is where she feels home, then that should be the direction of her next project.
Do you think Michelle should go gospel again?

I have all of Michelle’s albums and I think that she should do an RnB album with a gospel-centric touch! Just my two cents!

I love Michelle, I think she should return to gospel though I don’t want her to.
I would a be good career move, but she should feature on so many dance tracks like Kelly.
R&B/Gospel is the right way for Michelle.

Well at least she’s not dwelling her delusional to keep trying in the pop music that wasn’t popping off for her what so ever. I’m unsure as to why she’s never tried the R&B route, it would be nice to hear that sound from her, but I’m all for the return to gospel…Like the saying goes “If it ain’t broke..”

I’ve been saying this for the longest. Gospel suits her voice and style. She has the potential to be a big gospel artist. She already has the name. I would love to hear inspirational gospel songs from her. She would do great picking up where she left off. Just be you Michelle!

I will support her in whatever she does.
ALL her music is critically-acclaimed.
Few can successfully produce great gospel music and great pop music.
She can do either, merge the two, make a contemporary R&B album or spend another year hustling in theatre.
Whatever she does, she does it very well and she’s certainly successful in her own right.

I don’t think she should be doing gospel but i think she should do traditional R&B/Soul music ! She never done it and whenever something leaks that sounds a little bit like it, people are loving it so yeah ! a true royal R&B album would be the bomb but she needs to stop playing and use her contacts !!!!! Good Songwriters where she feels comfortable in the studio with and also use her own pen because We know that she definetly can write songs herself !

I think if she ventures back it should be a closer on the album like Mariah usually does. Ever since hearing her Let’s Stay Together rendition & when she sang I’ll Take You There when DC3 did their final concert I’ve wanted a Traditional Soul/R&B album from her. I think that’s her lane & I would definitely buy it.

Michelle should do another gospel album but invite some of her R&B friends like Letoya Luckett to collaborate on it cause every R&B singer that is out started off in church

Kelly Rowland have broke out of Beyonce’s shadows so I think it’s time for Michelle to do the same. I would love Michelle to do a traditional R&B/soul album but include a gospel song on it kinda like Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer’s first album was R&B but she also included a gospel song at the end of the album.
