Azealia Banks: Slaying Bitches since 1991.

And to think, this is only an EP, can’t wait for the mixtape, and album. The thing i love about her is that she is so diff and unique, i hope she doesn’t become to mainstream because we all know how too much fame can ruin great female rappers personally and talent wise (see: Lil Kim, Foxy Brow, & Nicki Minaj). I hope she gets a Best New Artist Grammy nomination though, i think she deserves it.

I like the beats are hot ready for the club summer pool partys etc make you want to dance and feel good and that can sell her music has that same Missy feel that get up and dance lets party shake your ass type vibe and with music being stuck in this dance party phase she needs to strike while the iron is hot

Lyrically she’s a beast. However all the songs are this fast paced speed rap that becomes redundant after the third or fourth track. I would like to see more depth from her as an artist. 212 is my fav track tho. But damn how many times can she say n**** in one track?

    I wish her luck!

Hey Iggy stan (Yes, I’ve read your unfounded hatred towards Banks based on your BLIND love for Iggy).

You actually think Iggy is ANYWHERE close to this???!!!!

      LOLI I.cannot.

      THIS is talent.

  • OMG she is such a boring rapper. Same redundant shit, nothing catchy everything is just so…bland. Awful EP!!!

  • Banks is different…but through her beats and production. She lacks in lyrical delivery. Her beats, while they are great, they disguise what she’s saying. The best thing about a rapper is the art to deliver. I can’t even sing a long because I don’t know what the hell she’s saying.

If she could focus on her lyrical content and its delivery….she could be bad. But until then…she will not stand out because she has no vocal/lyrical presence. If I played a trackless freestyle of her in the club….no one would be like, “Yep, that Banks!”

But you instantly recognize vocals from Nicki, Kim, Missy, and even IGGY just by the way the spit….without beats.

    Banks’ 1991

    Effort: B
    Creativity: A+
    Execution: C-

She has the hottest beats and her lyrics are great, but the delivery and flow could have been better imo. She has potential, though. She has her own style.

My favorite is ‘Van Vogue’ and ’212′ of course, it was released months ago, but it’s her best track so far :)

  • @Black Madonna, Im convinced u r a superficial airhead who could have the potential to be a racist against darker skinned women of color. Kesha, Rhianna, Nicki Minaj, and Katy Perry wear rachet costumes.

BITCH IF SHE WERE IN UR FACE U WOULD SHOW RESPECT. FUCK U AND UR OPINION111111

@Layla But you’re a dumb bitch so your comments are quite irrelevant. I like Nicki because she brought something new to the game – something your fave cannot do. So why don’t you find that Sprite can your fave talk about so much and take a sip…

You need to stick to the subject at hand, child.

  • I think Azealia is such a breath of fresh air, everybody is saying how redundant she is, but this is how she raps. Not throwing shade or anything, but just as an analogy .. what if people told Nicki Minaj to stop acting a fool in her songs because it’s becoming redundant? Her barbz wouldn’t like that and she wouldn’t do it because it works for her .. clearly. There are a million other raps chicks tryna get in the game and Azealia is doing well for herself, she shouldn’t change anything because what she’s doing is working for her.

Secondly, her delivery and flow is B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Like how can you not listen to any of her songs and not wanna get up and dance? She definitely delivers and I believe her beats are out of this world so the mere fact that she has the ability to rap on these beats says a lot. Granted, I understand you may not always be able to rap along to her songs .. that shouldn’t sway you from listening. How many times have you heard a song from a rapper and you don’t know what they’re saying but you just mimic what it sounds like? I feel like a lot of people are just looking for petty reasons to tear her down.

At the end of the day, she’s an awesome artist with incredible talent and she is definetly getting peoples attention

    • and to add to that she has created her own lane, nobody is doing what she is doing right now and that is great. Keep doing you Azealia! Don’t conform and be the bitch that everybody wants you to be because they will big you up and then tear you down!

Not impressed. Every track sounds the same. The best is 212 because I can understand it somewhat. I thought she would give more hip hop instead of house. I’m not a club kid. I do not “slam” I can’t even see myself blasting this in my crib or ride. Good luck to her. Note to previous female emcees.: Nicki has failed the sophomore jinx and this chick is no threat whatsoever. The door is open ladies

this bitch…she’s so l…whats the word….WACK!! All the songs are face paced to cover up her horrible lyric delivery….slow down what the fuck shes say’n && you STILL don’t get what the fuck shes talk’n about..Nicki’s beats are 1000x better (beez in the trap, stupid hoe, romans revenge, hov lane, did it on ‘em) and her lyrics actually have a meaning but you gotta be a Nicki fan to get the shit that aint so oblivious to the line because i can dissect and/or translate ANY nicki lyrics there is…but this chick needs to stop before she stops && embarrases herself…i’m tell’n you, she bout to be anothet lil mamma, a “one hit-damn, where da bitch go”…

  • Clearly 1991 and liquorice shows her lyrical prowess if you listen to the lyrics. She is a beast when she wants to be and her flow fits perfectly for the house beats. Those two are my favorite songs. She be singing those hooks lol But I totally understand the crictisms

It’s good, and she’s got her own lane. I do think her flow gets redundant after a bit, but she’s developing so she’ll learn how to switch it up. People have to remember just how young she is. I’d rather see her blow up than Iggy because Banks is genuine and talented. I also like her better than Nicki (Sorry Nicki Fans!) because I think Nicki burnt herself out far too quickly.
