Easily one of the most gifted voices of this generation, Leona Lewis continues to wow the masses six years on from winning The X Factor.

The ‘Bleeding Love’ singer’s third body of work ‘Glassheart‘ hit stores this week to ample acclaim and much fanfare. As such, we were ecstatic to catch up with the songbird in London to discuss the project.

In ensuring we ask the questions you really want answers to, we quizzed Lewis on the LP’s delay, US release, next single, Beyonce, being misunderstood, and much more.

Hit ‘PLAY’ to watch ‘That Grape Juice Interviews Leona Lewis’.

Be sure to keep an eye for Leona when she takes to the stage at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Awards 2012 on October 30th!

  3. DOSSOME October 16, 2012

Wish her all the best with this album…I wonder why you would ask her about Beyonce

    • vel October 17, 2012

He asked her who would she work with such as beyonce, rihanna or christina Aguilera…

  4. MC October 16, 2012

She is beautiful, talented, nice/sweet, yet boring. I wish her all the luck to be honest.

  5. RUDE NAVY October 16, 2012

she’s Awesome and her new album is da bomb !! her voice reminds me of mariah carey !!!!

my favs in her new album ” till now” are : “shake you up” , “glass heart” and “come alive” .

she deserve MORE. and she’s not boring , just cuz someone choose to be conservative and polite doesn’t mean they are “boring” !!!

    • JOHNVIDAL October 16, 2012

When people say boring refering to this talented girl is not about the fact she is not showing skin and all those things. It´s about her music, voice, presence. It seems boring. Her voice is amazing for some things but it lacks versatility to really do different things. Kind of always sound the same

      • jeff October 16, 2012

@JohnVidal. I agree, what ever the genre she is singing it all sounds the same and lacks versatility

    • MC October 16, 2012

Obviously the last line was dedicated to me. I wasn’t talking about everything @John mentioned and her personality when she comes across in interviews. She is talented, nice, beautiful and, yes, boring.

      • MC October 16, 2012

        *was

  6. JJFan1814 October 16, 2012

    Another album; name dropping Rihanna……

    Sigh

  7. HitItToQuitIt October 16, 2012

Hate on this site all you want, but imma just come out and say that Sam is killing it.

    Good job.

  8. Space W**** October 16, 2012

This blog is truly a shrine to beyonce its really creepy, hopefully she acknowledges its.

    • GlassHeartedBitch October 16, 2012

You clearly are ignorant baby. B was one of many girls brought up, she spoke about mariah, christina and Rihanna so boom!

  9. JOHNVIDAL October 16, 2012

Leona don´t be so humble, grow some ego. You´re not Mariah but your voice is better than Beyonce´s

    • jeff October 16, 2012

I don’t particularly like Beyonce’s screechy voice, but i find her more pleasing on the ear than Leona

      • Sam October 16, 2012

        Seriously? Beyoncé? Screechy?

I think they both have two amazing voices but really different.

And you cannot blame her for her lack of ego, everyone is different!
And no, she’s not Mariah, she has something called voice, which apparently Mariah lost years ago.

      • MC October 16, 2012

A screeching, screaming, flat, limited voice.

      • Jeff October 16, 2012

Yes @Sam, Mariah MAY have now lost her voice after 20 or so years in the business, but prior to that she was amazing and has left a body of remarkable work, we don’t know how Leona’s voice will be in that amount of time so its a really bad comparison, but like for like she isn’t touching Mariah in tone, range or ability.
And yes, i find Beyonce post Destinys Child & Dangerously in Love screechy. She seems to think singing in a higher pitch and shouting is power… its not

      • Sam October 17, 2012

@Jeff you didn’t listen to most of her songs in which she shows how good her low range is: Disappear or Dance For You for example. How about Fever the slow version? is that shouting?
Plus that’s not what I define shouting, she doesn’t have to…

    • vel October 17, 2012

Dude you gotta be on crack beyonce goes hard dont hate I bet u couldn’t hit a sour note

  10. WaitUrTurn88 October 16, 2012

F** THIS HO…..THIS BISH TRIED TO SHADE RIHANNA AND SAID SHE SUNG WFL FIRST AND SOUNDED BETTER…….IF LEONA WOULD OF CAME OUT WITH WFL IT WOULD HAVE FLOPPED….SHE SAYS ITS TRASHY TO RELEASE HER CUT OF IT….I SAY IT TRASHY TO BRING UP IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!……CAN WE SAY JEALOUS!!!

    • SHUH October 16, 2012

Love, there’s only one Ho in your comment and it ain’t Leona 😉 Also between them “Ho'” one of them can’t sing – again it ain’t Leona 😉

      So take a f****** seat.

      • Um October 16, 2012

        ^HAHAHA yesssss @SHUH

  11. nicolas October 16, 2012

ARGH i bloody adore this woman she is amazing!!!!!!!

  12. tgj filled with haters October 16, 2012

I swear if it’s not damn gay ass euro club beat most of you aren’t interested. Also beyonce>Leona vocals and all. She should be humble because better in time and bleeding love will be the only hits she ever will have in the USA. I do agree with her on the lack of talented people out now it’s appalling. If you can’t do it live don’t record it.
Anyway great job tgj . Most blogs don’t even get the actual artist to interview.
Sam should ban you haters its his blog and if you have a problem with the way he does interviews then start your own.
I’m not sure how some of you stan for Rihanna or majority who the standard stans call Leona boring. Leona>Rihanna. I’d much rather see her dazzle me with vocals and just stand there. Than see riri look cute and struggle with vocals and movement.

  13. Öz Firdevs October 16, 2012

Nobody cares about Beyonce, why Sam has always ask people about Beyonce

    • vel October 17, 2012

He said Christina rihanna an beyonce dont hate on hate B**** u cant speak for everybody u gay n***** kill me at least some of yall.. smdh.. most of yall cool though no disrespect to you real ones.. but dude kill yaself u wish u were beyonce u B****

  14. I.D. October 16, 2012

    She didn’t mention Alexandra Burke.

Should we read something into that…..?

    • jeff October 16, 2012

      Jealously?

  15. Nichole October 16, 2012

He brings up Beyonce in every interview because he’s an obsessed idiot. Bet’cha he’ll never get an interview with her.

Sam should start asking these folks about Kelly R, and Ciara. Oh that’s right…they aren’t relevant enough.

    • FAF October 16, 2012

Actually hun Ciara sitting on enough money to buy & sell your broke ass so i suggest you cop a seat & keep it f****** cute

K.Ro has the same success as beyonce during DC era… so try again

      SUCCESS & GRAMMYS !!

  16. antertain October 16, 2012

ANYWAY back to the Artist that is Leona..

Her voice is classically trained also so thats why she can tap into those other tones she speaks on withing her sound.

My Glasshearts & twoeleven will arrive 2moro and think i’ll love em 🙂

I think Leona’s voice & her control of it is sickkk

  17. Mely B October 16, 2012

I like the fact that Leona has not allowed herself to be whored out by the industry. I’m more than certain that stylists, producers, etc in the US would line up to change her image. She is a pretty girl with a killer bod so yes, they could present her in a certain way to make her more “edgy” and appealing to children who buy singles based on how bad-ass someone is as opposed to whether that person can sing. I hope this album is successful – whatever that means anymore, I’m just looking forward to hearing songs from a chick who can actually sing.

    • OMG October 16, 2012

What part of her is pretty??? She USED to be pretty now she looks a mess.

      • FAF October 16, 2012

        Looks better than Rishitta

  18. thman October 16, 2012

    Leona>Beyonce.

    • FAF October 16, 2012

      BOTTOMLINE!

      • I AM BLUE THE REAL HIVE October 16, 2012

        F*** off

  19. OMG October 16, 2012

LMAO SHE LOOKS SO UGLY NO LIE I LIKED HER BEFORE SHE GOT A FACE JOB. OH well, I only like 2 songs form her album which is favorite scar and shake you up

  20. Sarah Says October 16, 2012

This is the most animated and expressive i think i’ve ever seen her. I personally don’t think that Leona is as great singer that everyone says she is, i still find that she lacks range, sings all her songs in one pitch and makes them sound the same. I’m not going to say that she isn’t talented, but she isn’t all that.
I find it interesting that Simon Cowell clearly supports the acts he likes afte thr show regardless if they win or not, and always opens doors for them (Leona, One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Ollie Murs) which is clearly unfair considering the nature of the show. I don’t think that Leona’s will continue her success until she finds a decent vocal coach.

    • MRDIVABITCH October 16, 2012

She lacks a low register, not an upper register.
Her upper register extends to the F#6 above soprano high C. That’s plenty high.
But her low register is lacking. Whenever she sings low, she wobbles out of control and out of pitch (like in “Hurt”…that s*** was dreadful).

I prefer she stays in a range more suitable for her soprano range, as in “Bleeding Love” and “Better in time”.

      • FAF October 16, 2012

Leona lacks range? Sorry not everyone possesses a manly voice when I think range, I think being able to change vocally & transition through octaves

        LEONA HAS THAT!

HER VOICE CAN COMPETE W/ MINNIE RIPERTON & MARIAH CAREY!

    • Jeff October 16, 2012

@FAF Range doesn’t equate to manliness, it equates to ability and skill.
Also, i have NEVER heard Leona hit Mariah notes, but many nearer Minnie Riperton (RIP)

  21. Kevin October 16, 2012

Sorry, but this album is rubbish! I paid my money but cant get into it, Also, her dictation is awful, i have no idea what she’s saying half the time.

  22. Sarah October 16, 2012

LMAO why on Earth would she be jealous of Alexandra? Leona has sold 20 million records while Alex has sold 3 million. Plus Alex’s last album flopped big time.

    • I AM BLUE THE REAL HIVE October 16, 2012

Alex has sold 17m dumb ass

  23. MRDIVABITCH October 16, 2012

I really like the album! Though there are some weak tracks, and for the most part they don’t really show her vocals, I think it’s a step in the right direction to move away from the Mariah mini-me s*** that her label tried to pass her off with her debut.

But, no Leona…Alicia does NOT sound better live…she’s often flatter than a 3 day old can of soda.

  24. @091094_ Twitter October 16, 2012

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE LEONA FAN FROM DAY 1 AND I DOWNLOADED GLASSHEART LAST NIGHT AND ITS OKAY I HAVE TO ADMIT I DID EXPECT ABIT MORE, BUT I HAVEN’T THOROUGHLY LISTENED TO IT YET, BUT STILL LEONA DESERVES SUCCESS AND I WILL ALWAYS BE A FAN. FOLLOW ME

  25. Sam October 16, 2012

Are you wondering why did he pick up Beyoncé? She’s the hottest and the best female performer right now, that’s why! Others may have voice, may have body, or may have had those and still be inappropriately famous for it, but few people have all.

Leona, I love your voice and your vision of life! Wish you the best!

  26. Ratedxxx(TEAM “REAL” BAD BISHES) October 16, 2012

what exactly was the purpose in asking her about beyonce?

newsflash, not everybody is a beyonce or worship the ground she walks on…..its really irritating to see every interview, “how do u feel about beyonce”

how do u expect for the artists who are struggling, to respond?, of course they not going to say what they really feel

    • vel October 17, 2012

B**** he named rihanna christina an bey an mariah… dont start u f***** c***

  27. Ratedxxx(TEAM “REAL” BAD BISHES) October 16, 2012

beyonce is not the best in the game….matthew made her who she is….yes i said it, her dead is the vision behind beyonce, he made a average chick at best, into a huge superstar..

she doesnt have the best voice, I can name at least 15 females in the game who can outsing the s*** out of her…

her dancing? really do we really want to go there..? not when she does the same moves over and over again…janet jackson at 45,46 is killing her when it comes to entertaing.

i hate when people put this chick on a pedistal, when shes average

    • I AM BLUE THE REAL HIVE October 16, 2012

i cannot stand basic broads, talking about people are pretending, really, thats the best u can come up with?

    • R****** Navy: Broke,Ugly & bitter October 18, 2012

I see your trolling behind is back. Still seething and bothered by Queen B’s greatness. Don’t blame the Queen for your misfortunes, blame your parents for birthing your ugly a**!

  28. I AM BLUE THE REAL HIVE October 16, 2012

99% of comment mention beyonce it shows that most people on this site love and workship beyonce but they like pretending

    • Ratedxxx(TEAM “REAL” BAD BISHES) October 17, 2012

like ur pretending u dont worship rihanna?

i see uve been inside rihannas v*****, hence calling her a h**..how does it taste like?

  29. I AM BLUE THE REAL HIVE October 16, 2012

Leona rihjected R**** talentless over rated butch thanks for choosing beyonce it shows u know music

  30. Öz Firdevs October 17, 2012

Leona sold 11. 600. 000 albums and alex sold almost like her though

  31. Ratedx(hate fake bishes) October 17, 2012

    i cant stop laughing

  32. Stan for the one you love October 17, 2012

Wow, I used to not give a flying you know what about Leona, thinking she was a prissy British ice queen…I watched the whole interview and now I just find her so lovely. I will definitely pay more attention to her music from now on now that I had a chance to see her bubbly yet introspective personality.

  33. RymeReason October 17, 2012

Does this woman have a soul? I still don’t get who she is, and her vacant facial expressions aren’t helping. You have to have more than a pretty voice, where is her personality?

  34. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! October 18, 2012

I like her, her album is on course to be number 2 this week.

  35. R****** Navy: Broke,Ugly & bitter October 18, 2012

The Navy are just mad coz Leona shaded the f*** out of Rihanna and called her out for stealing her song form Calvin Harris. Leona LOVE Beyonce and clearly respects her. Now, as much as i like Leona, i know damn well she’s no match vocally for Beyonce. Beyonce’s vocal power alone would overwhelmed her. Plus Beyonce is more of a complete vocal package than Leona

When Leona Lewis debuted a decade ago, immediate comparisons were drawn between the songbird and legendary diva Mariah Carey. Beyond their big voices, Lewis’ early material seemed to echo Carey’s earlier offerings. In the years since, the Londoner’s narrative has taken on a different path and steered away from the big ballads… Read More
