It has certainly been Taylor Swift‘s week. For, not only did she see her name etched in history books for being the first female act to sell 1 million copies of a single album in one week twice, she has now notched her 56th (yes, you read that right) entry on Billboard’s Hot 100.
How, you ask? Well, with 4 top 10 singles from her most recent album ‘Red’ (‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, ‘Red’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, ‘Begin Again’), Swift just added 5 new titles to the Hot 100 – bringing her tally to 9 entries from one album simultaneously.
But, she’s not the only one celebrating this week. Ke$ha, Rihanna, and Chris Brown have all seen considerable gains on the singles front. Read about it all below:

Pop princesses Ke$ha and Rihanna have seen their respective singles ‘Die Young’ and ‘Diamonds’ shine on the charts, recently moving up into the top 5 (#4 and #5 respectively). Notching her 23rd top 10 single, the Barbadian beauty also celebrated tying Whitney Houston‘s top 10 chart run this week.
And, while the ladies are running the charts, crooners Ne-Yo and Chris Brown should not be counted out. Indeed, Brown notches his second top 10 from his latest set ‘Fortune’ with ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ (#10) – a song that has steadily moved up charts despite minimal recent promotion.
As Ne-Yo’s ‘Let Me Love You’ sits tight at #9, other notable moves are Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl On Fire’ blazing up from 47-28 and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Va Va Voom’ revving back up charts at #98.
But, it’s this week queen of charts Taylor Swift who has most reason to celebrate. For, with notching her 56th entry on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week (and 300k more sold of her ‘Red’ album), she ties Queen of Pop Madonna and legendary R&B vocalist Dionne Warwick for females with most Hot 100 chart appearances.
Madonna, however, still reigns as the queen of Billboard’s top 10, with 38 to her name, Madge has more top 10 singles than any artist in Billboard history – including Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Elvis Presley.

“We Are Never Ever Getting Back” Together will be back in the top 5 next week. It was out this week because of the “Complete The Album” feature on iTunes… and sold -83K copies. But the song is strong on radios… so it’ll be hard for SIa’s “Diamonds” to be #5 again.

Well, basically almost all her songs debuted on the Hot 100 due the strong digital downloads. She also had some songs from soundtracks, live albums and other stuff. It’s very plausible that it really happened. I know it may sounds weird, but you should remember that we’re living in the digital single era. Something similar happened to Glee. They have +200 entries on the Hot 100.

Also love the fact that Diamonds has moved up in the charts to enter the Top 5 with no video, no promo. Rihanna, who has sold 37 million albums worldwide and 142 million digital tracks world wide (verified by reputable media organization with highly qualified staff and an untainted reputation VOGUE and also verified by LiveNation), Rihanna keeps on cementing her name in the HISTORIH books. Love her.
Also big ups to Fistopher Brown for entering the top ten. I guess this proves once again that Rihanna’s name not only pays Samantha’s electric bill and Davidina’s minimum wage cheque, it also gives people a top ten hit.
Can I also add that Kendrick Lemar did over 200K first week and is seated comfortably on the #2 spot. This once again proves that Black people are only interested in rap albums, they don’t care about RnB but that is an issue for another topic.

The only problem with having high first week sales like that is that they register a dramatic decrease in the 2nd week and weeks to come. Taylor can sell because she only appeals to the teenage girls demographic and its them who buy the music. Let’s keep in mind that nearly half those copies sold were from itunes.
Anyway, I feel Taylor should grow more as an artist instead of rehashing the same lyrical content and recycling it over generic beats.

alot of these records have become redundant because of itunes. e.g Katy Perry beating MJs record.
