No stranger to controversy, Pop force Lady GaGa found herself embroiled in just that this week – courtesy of Kelly Osbourne. Random, we know.
The Fashion Police panelist took aim at the singer after allegedly being at the receiving end of nasty comments from the star’s fans online. This, presumably, following comments Osbourne made about GaGa on the hit E! show.
In a new interview with Fabulous magazine, Osbourne lamented:
“Lady Gaga’s fans are the worst. They’ve said I should kill myself, that they hope I get raped. I mean it’s crazy but I’ve had this all my life and I just try and ignore it.
I actually think she’s a good singer but she has the worst fans in the world and you have a responsibility to stop that. I think you do anyway.”
With Kelly’s quotes on the “Monsters” beginning to do the rounds, the ‘Bad Romance’ singer posted an open letter in response to the claims.

Open Letter to Kelly Osbourne
Dear Kelly,
While I wish you had reached out to me personally, as the head of the Born This Way foundation with my mother Cynthia we would like to respond. Everyday, through my music and public voice I choose to be positive and work towards a kinder and braver world with our community of followers. I encourage them to ignore criticism, stand up to bullies, know their own value and see that we are all the same and no one person is worth more than another. I know I’m perceived as a wild child, but in reality I am woman that deeply cares for humanity. I have empathy for you Kelly, but I feel it culturally important to note that you have chosen a less compassionate path. Your work on E! with the Fashion Police is rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another. “Appearance” is the most used reason for bullying in the world. Your show breeds negativity, and over the years has even become comedic in nature. It glorifies you and Joan Rivers pointing in the camera, laughing, and making jokes about artists and celebrities as if we are zoo animals.
What about your body revolution? It used to make me truly sad when I would hear people talk about your weight when you were younger, as I was bullied too. To see you blossoming into a beautiful slender woman who makes fun of others for a living is astounding. Why not help others? Why not defend others who are bullied for their image and share your story?
I am pointing this out not to take a crack at your character, as we’ve met before and you’re lovely. However, I urge you to take responsibility and accountability for the example that you are setting for young people. They look up to you because you are famous, and if you treat others that way on TV, many adolescents at home on twitter assume your actions are acceptable: well if she does it, why can’t I? I cannot control my fans, and I discourage them from any negativity and violence, because that is wrong and hurtful — and I do feel baldy that your feelings were hurt. However, we can all do our part in the media to set a standard of respect, compassion, and love. I wish for you to be treated with the kindness and respect that everyone deserves.
While some of my fans have learning to do, most of them share the same values as I, and it’s what bonds us together. And that bond is strong.

Good for Gaga pointing out the hypocrisy in Kelly being upset over harsh worlds when her show thrives off those.
It is sad tho for Gaga, because there is a very real and horrible niche of her fan’s are really mean and negative people. This has no reflection on Gaga as she’s said it till she’s blue in the face, she supports love and acceptance of all. I believe her to be truly 120% sincere !!
Many ‘little monster’s’ have taken this to mean “it’s a revolt of the under-dogs” and these underdogs now feel empowered to BECOME the bullies. It’s sad they are so limited in their thought & view that they don’t truly understand Gaga’s message. I like Gaga, but would I never identify as little monster because these people have become renown with the opposite of what Gaga fights for and advocates, Meanness.
I’m also not talking about the cowards that hide behind their key boards on blogs and sites, i’m talking about in real life i’ve had so many experiences just in day to day life where these people are horrible to others, in stores, restaurants, at the bar – It’s weird, they feel they have a license to be so negative because they see themselves as “Different/unique”.
Those of you who are positive little Monsters, please help your mother monster clean house of all these oppressed and abused Monsters who have become the Oppressive and Abusive nasty little monsters they are.
I also would like to see Gaga directly respond to these nagative monsters and put them in their place, because she’s constantly having to defend her fans, and she shouldn’t have to do this. You don’t see Mariah Carey having to defend her Lambs, or Beyonce having to apologies for the BeyHive.

glad you’re standing up. … some might argue there’s a reason to attach Rihanna. Gaga as a role model still pretty OK with people, But i don’t know a SINGLE parent in the world that wants their child’s role model to be Rihanna. Honestly can you think of a least desired role model for Children apart from Courtney Love durning the ’90′s (maybe). Parents would rather their kids listen to K$sha.

This is what Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Kim should have learned and a whole host of other celebs who have “beef” with each other. First I want to congratulate Gaga for handling this like a grown-up, professional woman and not a hormonal, teen, drama queen. I feel like she said all the things she said without telling being totally rude. I understand what she means when she implies that FS is laced around negative energy and whatnot, but I felt like she was in a way excusing her fans behaviors for telling Kelly to kill herself. I understand that Gaga, much like every superstar, cannot control her fans but she shouldn’t skim over it either. I appreciate her saying “Some monsters don’t follow……” which is true because she cannot monitor everyone’s behavior, nor should this be expected of her. Lastly, I don’t really understand why this was made a public/BTWF announcement letter instead of a personal letter to her.
Regardless of it all, I’m proud of her and how she handled the situations, some people could stand to take notes from this. Lastly, I’m excited to see what she has in store.

I thought that Gaga was a main campaigner against bullying.
Vince, I’m leaving it in your hands to do the right thing here. One tweet from Gaga can change this whole situation. I’m not asking her to deal with this directly but she if she could tweet something to her fans about being more respectful that may end this. I’m sure she doesn’t condone her fans saying such hideously offensive things.

I can never decide whether I think Gaga is totally hokey or totally phony. Either way I don’t like or trust her. Is she really pressed on E! Fashion Police…oh…duh, look at her. I guess when you wear dresses made of meat, Kermit the Frog heads or feathers, a show like that WOULD be your nemesis. Maybe if she stopped carrying herself like she escaped from a loony bin, or the planet Mars, she wouldn’t find what Kelly O. and Joan Rivers does so degrading. The truth though is that there’s a difference between harshly critiquing someone for how they choose to look in public and saying you hope that they kill themselves or get raped. So Gaga trying to parallel what Kelly does on TV to the uncontrolled actions of those buffoonish fans of hers doesn’t wash.

Kelly started first with “public provocations”, that’s how she got the “public answer” too, so I don’t understand why Sheron is complaining about OPEN letter (on her FB page)? As Gaga said: “I wish you had reached out to me personally”, so what’s the problem, Sheron? And what the f. hell this shittt means: “…you have a responsibility to stop that”?
