BSMYTH THAT GRAPE JUICE Exclusive: B Smyth Talks Ne Yo, Leggo And Debut Album

With January gone and the world of Pop well into February, music lovers can expect to be introduced to a number of newbies- all vying to win their hearts…and wallets.

However, with the backing of Motown, the blessing of Ne-Yo and the charisma of a young Bobby Brown, it’s safe to say B Smyth stands head and shoulders above the rest of his pack, bursting onto the scene with the budding hit, ‘Leggo‘.

So, as to truly understand what makes the 19 year old entertainer tick, That Grape Juice caught up with him last week as he prepares cuts for his debut album.

Get into it below…

 On his journey thus far:

“I decided I wanted to pursue music about a year ago, and it all started with me covering artists on YouTube. I did Miguel’s ‘Sure Thing’ and started to get opportunities from labels. I showcased for all of them but Motown was the last one I performed for, and I knew from then that they were the best label for me.”

When quizzed on how influential Ne-Yo has been to his cause:

“Ne-yo’s the homie man. He’s definitely going to be a big part of the album. I know he wants to steer me in the right direction and wants the best for me. What’s so great about the album is that it’s really diverse.

You’ve got the songs like ‘Leggo’ but then you have the slow jams, or the songs you wanna play when you’re chillin’ with your girl. You really get to feel my personality on it which is important because some of my favorite artists (Miguel, Trey Songz) are good at expressing themselves with their songs, so I hope to be as successful as they are.”

His favorite Rappers are?

Kendrick and Future,” he explained, “If I had to pick two Rappers that I could have on a remix to the single it would be them, it’s a really big song so I think they’d sound great on it…big fan of both.”

He can sing his ass off tho if yal haven’t, check his youtube videos out! This song is good but not as a 1st single tho. I also would of been cool with him not being a dancer and just being something like a trey songz (standing, posing, acting in the video) cuz dude has a excellent voice. But I will be buying his album anyways to see what direction he goes. Good luck Bsymth!

      I KNOW, I’M BEING SILLY!

HE CAN SING… BUT HE’S NOTHING NEW

I SWEAR ALL MALE R&/B POP STARS TRY TO BE THE SAME

      ALWAYS WEARING BLACK
ALWAYS DOING THE SAME POP-LOCKING MOVES
ALWAYS HAVE SONGS THAT ARE NOT RADIO FRIENDLY
AND ALWAYS WANNA LOOK EXTRA IN INTERVIEWS LIKE WEARING GLASSES

THAT LOOK IS SOOO PLAYED OUT NO ONE BUYS IT AT ALL…. SO THATS WHY I THINK HE IS AT HIS PEAK UNLESS HE FINDS HIS OWN

You know theyre a label priority if TGJ posts on them. Virtually unknown and anonymous tbh, but very VERY s***. I definitely would let him have the cookies from my jar if he promised not to leave any crumbs, if you know what i mean.

If another artists could sing your song exactly like you and nobody would care, what is the purpose? His vocals are WAY too over-produced. Jerimih, Jacob Lattimore, Mindless Behavior…all could’ve sang this song and nobody would even know the difference. The beat is cool but his “voice” is too generic for me in this song.

The song sucks, and it’s typical. It will flop. Too bad he’s a cutie with a decent voice & really nice dance moves.
