It’s official. Girls Aloud are parting ways after ten years together.
Full story after the jump…
The Brit-Pop belles, who re-teamed last October, made the announcement on Twitter after the final stop on their ‘Ten’ tour.
In a joint statement, Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, and co wrote:
Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together . Love you lots.
**********
The announcement brings to an end an incredible run for the five-piece, who enjoyed a decade-long stretch of success. Indeed, in their time on the charts, the ladies racked up twenty consecutive top 10 hits – the latest of which was last Winter’s ‘Something New’.
By no means the most talented Pop collective, the group still boast a catalogue that houses many a Brit-Pop classic.
What their split means for each member moving forward will be interesting to see. How will Cheryl fare without the scaffolding that were her bandmates or the X Factor? Will we finally get an album from Nadine not released on Tesco Records? Will the others remain “the others”?
So many questions, so few answers. What is certain, though, is that the ladies leave a trail of smashes in their wake. As we pour out a little liquor for one of the UK’s most renown girl groups, join us in reminiscing on some of our favourite releases of theirs…

I’m being pedantic but Nadine’s album was on Black Pen Records, Tesco was the distributor. No such thing far as I know as Tesco Records!

Sad to see such an amazing group split but their incredible catalog will always remain. It might just be that they’ve made the right decision at just the right time. Best of luck to all the girls in their future projects! <3 Girls Aloud

Yawn. Sorry but the Spice Girls set the standard for British girl-groups in terms of cultural impact, level of fame and catchy pop music.
I only know 2 of girls aloud songs. Bye.

Shout to Nadine Coyle for forming her own record label Black Pen Records and writing, producing and releasing her first album and single under her own label herself! its not often that an artist has such guts and, it was very fortunate that she struck a deal with a an outlet like Tesco’s to get her album out there, if she had been signed to Sony or a massive label then yes her success would have been major but at that point labels were only offering 360 deals which income wise is terrible!
Nadine is a smart young business women and very talented, looking forward to seeing what she does in the future

People trying to be funny saying “never heard of them” don’t seem to realise that the last ten years of their lives have been missing some of the most inventively crazy pop music ever made.
THREE CHORUSES IN ONE SONG!
“Standing on a crowded platform, carelessly we lost our way”…
