If recent events are anything to go by, Lil Kim‘s comeback plans are far more serious than even her own fans could have imagined.
So serious, that in a bid to reignite the fire that once lit her brand, she has shared not one but two new videos today, the first being Tiffany Foxx‘s clip for the single ‘Twisted’.
The second, being the official video for her remix to Rihanna‘s rising smash ‘Pour It Up‘, featuring her boyfriend Mr. Papers.
While the video is a little ‘budget’, we’d be lying if we said weren’t looking forward to the album that will follow it, considering it is to be executive produced by Hip Hop life force Bangladesh.
As someone whose career kicked off almost twenty years ago, it is kind of upsetting that Kim is now starring in videos the likes of Nicki Minaj would have turned her nose up at six or more years ago.
However, upmarket or not, she is and will always remain a Rap legend…and it’s for this reason we hope her LP will stray away from lyrics like the ones spewed in the cut and dig deeper into her story.
The real tragedy of this video though, is that it’s no more than a ploy to promote Papers- a relatively unknown MC before getting involved with the Grammy winner. A fact, we’re sure many of her fans won’t take too kindly to- considering the fact her verse isn’t featured.
For the sake of her brand and the loyalty of her fans, here’s hoping Kim understands that she is far too accomplished to play ‘video girl’ and that she would have benefitted from starring in the video alone, considering the momentum she could have garnered for her own cause if she had done so.
So, until Kim learns to put herself first, let’s all enjoy the gem below together…
