New Song: Mario – ‘Fatal Distraction’

Published: Tuesday 27th Aug 2013 by Sam

Having warmed up the masses with the Nicki Minaj assisted ‘Somebody Else’, R&B crooner Mario continues his comeback campaign with new single ‘Fatal Distraction’.

Of the song, the singer confesses that the mid-tempo was inspired by a real life situation in which he was dating his manager’s ex-girlfriend. “{The song} just talks about the distractions and temptations and the infatuation that can have on a man when it comes to a woman”.

Is the song as dramatic as its inspiration? The answer awaits after the jump….

Via TheDrop.fm:

Sigh.

Though a pleasant listen, it sounds like album filler – not an album winner. A fact which leaves us somewhat uneasy given how solid Mr Barrett’s catalogue is by and large. Indeed, we can’t echo enough how much of a modern classic 2007’s ‘Go!’ is.

Honestly, if it means we have to wait longer so as for Mario to cook up better material, we’re all for it. Because this, as well as its predecessor, bring a new meaning to bedroom music. As in, the type that actually sends you to sleep.

the vocal is spectacular though. people just expect that from Mario so everyone wants to pull out other tricks, but he is a VOCAList. He did his job here. He sang the heck outta this and sold the story.

I think the song is well done with no obnoxious sound gimmicks; just straight r&b.

Nice song Mario. This one was better then Somebody Else. This song is just straight up R&b.

The song is nice…nothing spectacular. I think Mario is just trying to put out real rnb right now. He has another single coming call “LSD” (Love, S**, Drugs). That one sound more interesting. He’s it keeping consistent, getting his foot back in the game. Good for him.
