For all its upswings, the music industry comes with a number of challenging episodes. Just ask Jordin Sparks.

Five years have passed since the singer-actress released sophomore effort ‘Battlefield’ and – as per a new interview – that’s exactly where she’s been in recent years trying to “win” a release date for its follow-up.

Sparks’ insightful sit-down with The Huffington Post awaits below…

Intriguing. Refreshing too, as it’s not often artists wax honest about albums delays and the like.

It’ll be interesting to see what the 23-year-old means by “opportunity to put it out on my own”.

In the meanwhile, check out our recent interview with the talented American Idol alum, in which she dishes on her new material…

I really hope this doesn’t turn into a JoJo situation. I heard a clip of one of her new songs and it sounded AMAZING. Free Jordin!!

Wow, I would think the label would be excited to put out Jordin’s music… now I am wondering if her album sales were low on her last album or her record label just don’t believe in her anymore… mmmh!!! I love her voice tho

Maybe the label would find room for her on their schedule if she didn’t record s*** like “I Am Woman.”
