She is classical trained and more diverse than Beyoncé will ever be ……… Plus she plays, produce, arrange, and writes all of her work ! When will your fav ever in life ! I’ll wait…………

B**** please where did anyone mention Beyonce?

That don’t sound like her but that’s a good song. She sound kind of shriek y none the less.

She’s cute and talented but I can’t get into her for some reason. Something is missing.

I love this song. Some of her fans are upset that she did this song, but sometimes you have to cater to the masses to get that hit you want, and it’s good to go outside of your box if done correctly.

    Wow this song is corny….

This song is a hit! I love it! I pray she gets the mass appeal she deserves. I saw her live in 2012 and thought her show was the best show out. Beyonce & Rihanna are cool, but not as creative as Monáe is. They are about hits but Her albums are amazing. Period.

What does Rihanna and Bey have to do with Janelle? She has had ALOT of promo yet she’s still flopping. Bey and Rih obviously has something she lacks

      • SMH April 1, 2015

Yeah, she lacks the Jay Z machine backing her.

She is putting thought back into the music and your right no one said anything about beyonce but the fact is she isn’t about getting a hit ! Her goal is the message in the music …….. To reach the people who understands her and if you don’t understand her than your just like the masses walking dead ! At least her music has substance other than telling people to Bow Down and holding a cup like alcohol because we so need the younger generation to be drinking when some of them can barely read or write. Get your priorities together!

I really like Janelle Monae as a public figure.

She’s unique, fashionable, gorgeous, and inspiring. She has a nice voice, but her vocals lacks the energy and style she personally emanates.

I really dig her music, BUT it sucks that so many people use artists like her as catalysts to justify their Beyonce hatred/obsession. I don’t even think they really like their music so much as they’re just looking for something to listen to that they can run back to and say “Aha, this is better than (insert club banger Beyonce song)! She’s socially conscious!”

    Lol whatever.

    THIS. I love it!

  11. JOHNVIDAL April 2, 2015

    She´s so damn talented!!!
And wow this is different from her and I´m so loving it either way. She´s always on point. And for the few people saying she can´t sing: are you serious? You clearly haven´t seen her performing Cold War live, right?

  12. Mark jones April 2, 2015

@missjones I’ve been listening to janelle monae way before anyone had known who she was. I bought every single album thus far and I also had her independent album the audition. I don’t need her to justify any hatred towards anyone. I never said I didn’t like Beyoncé I just wish she would put more awareness into her music seeing as we need to start back with music that made you feel and think while still grooving to it. So stop trying to read people before someone takes a look in your book and read you down !

This record is fire. Very clever and BASIC-BISH friendly. When Jane make’s music with a message, nobody wants to listen. Now she’s giving us something more “popular” ya’ll mad.
