Today, the RIAA (Recording Institute Association of America) named the 27-year-old as the first and only artist to surpass their 100 million cumulative singles award threshold. A tally which accounts for Gold and Platinum honors.
Already boasting claim to 52 million digital sales Stateside, the round figure of 100 million was arrived at by adding 48 million new units comprised of the RIAA revised mix of sales and streaming data. A point which will likely raise a few eyebrows.
Per the RIAA, Rih’s career song certifications span 37 separate titles released during her decade of music making, and include a 9X multi-Platinum award for ‘We Found Love,’ 6X multi-Platinums for ‘Stay,’ ‘What’s My Name’ and ‘Only Girl (In The World),’ plus a 2X multi-Platinum for new song ‘FourFiveSeconds,’ a Platinum for ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ and more.
Comparatively, Rih’s US album sales are altogether more humble (despite still being impressive given the current sales climate).
Rihanna’s career album awards total 7.5 million sold in America, including a 2x multi-Platinum for ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ (2007), five Platinum albums for ‘A Girl Like Me’ (2006), ‘Rated R’ (2009), ‘Loud’ (2010), ‘Talk That Talk’ (2011) and ‘Unapologetic’ (2012) plus Gold for ‘Music Of The Sun’ (2005).

These numbers aren’t what she actually sold, they’re what she sold in certifications. That’s why TGJ reported 7.5 million albums sold in the US and not the actual 10 million. She’s only certified for 7.5 million
