Ciara & Future To Perform At The ‘Epic Festival’ ?

LA Reid‘s ‘Epic’ has announced that is to launch its very own musical festival this year to celebrate its success in the fields of Pop (Meghan Trainor) Hip Hop (Future) and R&B (Ciara.)

However, fans of the last two names will know that the former’s position on the lineup may prove to be problematic for the latter following their very public spat over her relationship with the multi-millionaire athlete Russell Wilson.

Full story below…

The event will take place at LA’s Sony Pictures Studios on August 29th and will see Reid lead a number of the label’s acts as they perform for an audience of 500 people one day before the MTV Video Music Awards kicks off.

Quite interestingly, the label are yet to include Ciara on its lineup despite her position as its leading R&B act...at least on a singles front.

If the ‘And I‘ star is placed on the event’s lineup as one of its “surprises” fans it would mark the first time the “feuding” couple would serve as performers at the same show since their split last year.

Read more on that here.

With only nine days to go before the show’s arrival it’ll be interesting to see if Ms. Harris finds a spot on the show and if she’ll receive the honour of being named a headliner.

For, though her album sales have been appalling to say the least, the fact remains Ciara does far more for the label than acts who may outperformed her on the Billboard 200 since her signing.

Assuming her deal with Epic sees them take slices from each of her entertainment pies (albums, tours, Topshop fashion and TV shows) we wouldn’t be surprised if her name does hold more weight than the likes of Tamar Braxton who topped iTunes singles chart with ‘Love & War’ but left many a fan dazed & confused when the same single failed to crack the Billboard Hot 100‘s Top 50.

Albums are worth more singles but it will be interesting to see how fans will respond if Ciara is in the LA area during the festival but isn’t called on to serve as one of its headliners.

If she isn’t (and a valid reason for her not doing so isn’t given) it’d send an alarming message to an industry that already suspects her album sales have made her the least of the label’s priorities.

King David has spoken and he never lies. The dragging will be too real if Queen’s own label doesn’t let her head line their own show.

I can say that I’m not pleased with Epic handling Ciara and her project. They should be held accountable for not promoting her as much as they should. I think Ciara will eventually find another label that will respect her creativity and vision as an artist. It seems like right now Epic isn’t really investing in establish artists like Ciara because they feel that she’s capable of handling things on her own but she needs direction regardless. I will support Ciara no matter what and she will remain that chick who made an impact in the industry. It’s the right timing and exceution. Go Ciara!!!!
