Gwen Stefani is back!

After a two-track false start last year, the No Doubt nucleus returns with new solo single ‘Used To Love You.’

The emotional mid-tempo, which was produced by JR Rotem and co-penned by Stefani, Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels, finds the singer lamenting on a ruined relationship. Timely given her recent split from husband of 13 years Gavin Rossdale.

Speaking of the inspiration for the cut, The Voice season 9 coach says she drew on the “pain and love and my real life,” adding that “this song is really special” to her.

Is it special to you? Take a listen below and let us know…

Solid.

With ‘Used To Love You,’ Gwen reminds the masses (and likely herself) that sometimes less is more.

Unlike last year’s banally busy offerings, she wins here by serving up a track that is sonically stripped back and showing enough emotion to be relatable to the masses.

In a way, it’s as if she’s skewing towards the more mature sound of No Doubt for this third solo outing. Smart, as the pomp and pageantry that defined her 00’s solo breakout just won’t wash in 2015.

Welcome back, Gwen. We’re sold.

This is neat and I agree that sometimes less is more. I think with her previous efforts, she was trying to recapture the “holler back girls” “what you waiting for” and “wind it up” sound. But I’m glad she took this route, this time round. ❤️

S******, the best thing he could’ve done was record and release that soft-rock classic, “Love Remains the Same”, which he did. He’s alright in my book!

This is much better comes off less try hard. Gwen can still try for the fun sound she gave us with “Hollaback Girl” and “The Sweet Escape” but she needs to was us in, and it needs to be MUCH better than the mess which was “Spark The Fire.” The “Baby Don’t Lie” song was dry and dead on arrival for me. It just didn’t work with that tribal beat.

This has the emotional quality that “4 In The Morning” has and its also is catchy at the same time. Relatable.
