Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss has carved out quite the post-Xscape career thanks to her entrepreneurial endeavours.

However, last night’s episode brought music back to the forefront for the heavily pregnant talent.

She was shown shooting a video for former cast-mate Demetria McKinney‘s new single ‘Unnecessary Trouble.’

Directed by Derek Blanks, the clip sees Kandi – who has penned hits such as ‘No Scrubs’ and ‘Bug A Boo’ – in familiar territory, playing the truth-telling friend who spills on a no-good-man.

Borrowing a talk-show theme, the visual makes for an engaging watch.

Tune in below…

Given the context (RHOA), we were admittedly ready to greet this with a hint of trepidation. The actual end result, though, was surprisingly solid.

Colorful, catchy, and cute, this could be a minor viral hit if given the right push past the usual politics.

I like it! Kandi sounded lIstenable and she really is a great songwriter! I think she needs to continue writing for others because this was a good song not saying it will be number 1 but definitely could be a hit on the r&b charts reminds me of music from the 2000s like blu Cantrell or sunshine Anderson

Don Juan acted a damn fool last night. He and Todd are punks! Why didn’t Todd ask Apollo for the money when he was hanging out with him at the club? Dog.

I ACTUALLY like it! It does give me 90’s era, but truth be told… THAT was the DOMINATION era of R&B. I think it will do well if promoted properly…

  8. What now December 28, 2015

No ma’am, but Kandi’s pregnancy glow is serving her justice.

I’m on the fence, I like their voices but I think the beat is too 90s for me, it makes it sound like songs I’ve heard before not something fresh and new. Can we get a remix with a more modern beat?

That Demetria can slay a vocal. Interestingly dialled her back a bit on this track but loving the beat and vibe of track. Both looked great.

This sounds a little 90’s, but Kandi always knows how to put a catchy bop together. It’s not bad!

Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Shape Of You‘ has been omnipresent on the charts and radio alike. Hence, it’s unsurprising if it’s become familiar to the masses.
