It’s hard to believe it’s nearly been two decades since the world was introduced to the velvet croon of Grammy winning singer Maxwell.  But, with April 2016 will come the 20th anniversary of ‘Urban Hang Suite’ – his debut album featuring the hits ‘Whenever, Wherever, Whatever’ and  ‘Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder).’  Now, ever impatiently, fans have been left wondering where part 2 to the R&B beau’s album trilogy has been hiding.

Well, wonder no more.

Taking to our friends at Essence, Max lent a long-awaited update on blackSUMMERs’night – the follow-up to 2009’s BLACKsummers’night – and tells readers they may have their hands on it sooner than they expect. Updates await below:

Via Essence:

This year marks 20 years since Urban Hang Suite. Wow!
I can’t believe that 20 years after doing something that I started when I was 21, would even mean anything, or even stand the test of time to the point where I would have an interview and it would be a mentioning point. What’s really great about it is that I work with all of the same people, and I’m working with all of the same people on the new album that’s coming out this year. We’re writing this new album. It feels, to me, even better than what we did twenty years ago.

So, blackSUMMMER’snight is coming?!
I’m so hyped about the new album coming out, which is so exciting for me, because it’s fresh and it’s different, but it is what I do.

We’ve been patiently waiting for this album.
People are like, “Why does it take so long? Why does it take so long?” Because there’s always a part of me that’s like, “Nah.” You know? I know I started the record, but have I lived enough of what I need to live to view it with the emotion that it needs, and then release it? I can sometimes feel like it’s okay to wait.”

He is very talented. But this QUEEN closeted gay 41 year old with no children or woman in sight got put on and his Instagram is him and tons of “white” friends and no black friends or people no where in sight.

another black boy who wants to be white but sells his product to black people. SELL OUT.

Oh f*** off! Some of those white people (stuart Matthewman of Sade) produced Urban Hang Suite and gave it it’s classic sound. Learn some facts before sounding like a bitter EBT carrying loser.

Yes! I hope he serves up another “Pretty Wings” and “Lifetime” for the new album. He used to be so damn fine back in the day. His cover of “This Woman’s Work” will forever be the standard. Lol at him making Kate Bush’s song more popular than her!
