Per US Weekly, Lopez has cut ties with Capitol Records (where she released 2014’s ‘A.K.A’) to reunite with L.A Reid over at Epic.
The move represents a full circle moment of sorts for J.Lo – who has also confirmed the news.
Epic is where she enjoyed most of her slaying years (1999-mid-00s) and, when things took a dip, it was Reid and co over at Island Def Jam who brought her back to prominence with ‘On The Floor‘ in 2011.
With the dream team back in action, can they recapture the magic?
Time will tell.
What is certain, though, is that La Lopez is returning to an Epic that is in much better shape than previous years.
The roster is yielding tangible hits via fresh talent such as Fifth Harmony, Future, and Jidenna, and boasts a respectable list of legacy acts like Diddy and the Michael Jackson catalogue.
Interestingly, the label is also home to fellow Vegas diva Mariah Carey – who too had a similar trajectory with Reid/Def Jam.
Is there room on the same team for both of the rumored rivals? Budgets are real and so too are egos, so who knows.
For the time being, we’ll cross our fingers, toes, and everything else in hopes of another one of these…
