Last night’s BET Awards was packed to the brim with memorable moments and it’s become apparent that they were seen by vast audience.

Full story below…

The network has announced that the show – which opened with a surprise performance by Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar – was watched by 7.2 million people.

In a unique move (one that’s a testament to the mainstream clout of Urban entertainment), the show was broadcast across 12 Viacom channels. Said stations included MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and Spike.

By contrast, the 2015 instalment was seen by 6.5 million total viewers – but only aired on BET and sister station Centric.

Still, it’s a major coup for the cable station who revealed that 3.8 million viewed the show on the BET channel. The figure represents a 10% rise on the preceding year.

On the social media front, it’s being that reported that over 623,000 people generated close to 3.5 million tweets related to the ceremony. No surprise given the spectacle of the opener, Prince tributes, and Jesse Williams{Source}

  8. Beykim loves One Direction,Justin Bieber,Lady Gaga,Miley and Beyoncè June 27, 2016

I’m black but feel extremely uncomfortable with the BET awards.I feel like they’re reverse racism tbh,I’ve never understood Black lives Matter or when MIA said the whole Muslim lives matter thing. As a Black Muslim I view both as ignorant. All lives matter, you want to be treated as equals but still continue to exclude others when it comes to this.I know people are going to always pull that”you are young card” but come on.BET is super disrespectful to other races & I will never support something that views as certain group of people as more important than others

    • Molly June 27, 2016

      Preach boo

      • Caleb June 27, 2016

        preaching garbage.

    • Cinnamon Girl June 27, 2016

I agree totally. I feel really sorry for Jesse Williams, too. He means well but the folks watching that probably forgot everything he said right after his speech was over

    • BeyAnna ? June 27, 2016

wow never thought about this you absolutely right !

    • SMH June 27, 2016

You call yourself black, then why does black pride make you so uncomfortable? Did you get “uncomfortable” when The Oscars were excluding minorities for 2 years in a row? Clearly you all missed the exact point of Jesse Williams speech last night, and you proved everything he said was true.

    • Dev June 27, 2016

You age has nothing to do with it, i think your lack of understanding is the issue.
This is is not the forum for me to explain as the post would be too long but there are people out there who will give you a better understanding.
If you need names or pointers let me know.
      Good luck with your investigating

    • Caleb June 27, 2016

You are not a Black Muslim. Quit lying. You’re obviously a white troll with this “reverse racism” trash.

    • What Now June 27, 2016

Do you say the same thing to Telemundo and other channels catering to a certain race? FOH with this coonery and ignorance.

    • What Now June 27, 2016

And one more thing asshole, Black Lives Matters doesn’t mean specifically only the African American community lives matter, it means blacks should be treated the same as the majority. You being black should understand that.

    • Lea June 28, 2016

Why did u get down voted???

  9. BeyAnna ? June 27, 2016

once they heard Hurricane Bey was coming everybody tuned in

  10. No favs, just here for the music June 27, 2016

I mainly tuned in for Prince tribute(s) but Beyonce was a very pleasant surprise.

  11. BeyAnna ? June 27, 2016

Alicia Keys needs to come out and perform more often not just at BET awards but other places to Grammys, Amas etc, !
Her talent will never go unnoticed. People forget what a breath of fresh air she is!

  12. SMH June 27, 2016

Beyonce was only there in the beginning so these ratings had nothing to do with her. The Prince tribute was the big draw of the night.

      • DAN June 27, 2016

lol they dont call her RIHta for nothing

  16. Weezy Tha Goat/ Zayn is ? June 27, 2016

MTV could never!! Thief award show has been slowly declining for the past 4 years.

    • Grande The Way June 27, 2016

The VMAs flopped last year but still pulled more viewers (8.3 million) than BET Awards without being blasted on 12 networks.

  17. Metzo June 27, 2016

    Damn I missed it.
Had no idea Bey was performing

  18. Metzo June 27, 2016

From the clip I watched, the mise en scene looked amazing.
But her vocals were lacking a bit this time .

  19. Grande The Way June 27, 2016

Well considering it was shown on 12 different channels, that isn’t that much and you can’t fairly compare it to the BBMAs that didn’t get aird on 12 channels. They could have had more viewers if they announced performers like Beyonce ahead of time. The line up sounded dry before hand save Alicia and Usher and he dropped the ball big time.

  20. HailBeysus June 27, 2016

Yonce slayed! Those numbers ain’t bad either so I don’t know why y’all acting so damn pressed for!

  21. What Now June 27, 2016

These are decent numbers. This was their best ceremony in a while. Beyoncé, Kendrick, Bilal (not sure if that’s how you spell it), Usher, Maxwell, and etc all did a great job. Jessie’s speech was beautiful and really touched me.
