Does Mimi still have the magic?

It appears the answer will manifest soon because Mariah Carey is officially cooking up a new album.

And while the songbird has made no secret of this following studio snaps with Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox, she’s finally opening up about the set.

Head below where a telling interview with Mario Lopez on Extra awaits…

Speaking on the follow-up to ‘Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse,’ the star revealed the status of recording. She also teased a duet with The Weeknd..

Interesting.

We’ve long wanted Mariah to embrace new sounds, new collaborators, and new song structures.

As such, The Weeknd duet sounds like an exciting prospect.

She’s in privileged position in that her name is so legendary that her material is still anticipated even when coming off an underperforming project.

Fingers crossed she seizes on the moment and delivers something that resonates.

This new Moo era is gonna slay!

    • Yoncé The Great September 6, 2016

When we CiError finally have an era worth remembering?

      • Ughhhh September 6, 2016

Her first three albums were worth remembering. Don’t shît on her achievements. What are you doing?

      • #JACKIE September 6, 2016

Why are you so pressed ugly?

  2. Blue Ivy Rod September 6, 2016

I’m tired of the Weeknd, everyone is going to let him hop on their tracks and overexpose him. Smh.. I hope her music does well because the Chanteuse deserved much better sales/exposure

    • Lmfao_Hoe September 6, 2016

I still can’t believe they slept on Faded though along with Cry. With the right video concept and performances her era would’ve been better after Beautiful.

      • Blue Ivy Rod September 6, 2016

Faded, Cry, You Don’t Know What To Do, Camouflage, #Beatuiful, even that corny gay anthem Meteorite .. She didn’t do a bad job at all but when you have a messy roll out then it can defer people from buying.. AKA “ANTI”

      • Meteorite September 6, 2016

        @Blur Ivy Rod
Why you keep my name rolling off your tounge? Lol

      • Blue Ivy Rod September 6, 2016

        Lmao @ Meteorite

    • Lmfao_Hoe September 6, 2016

Yes for real and those songs were great too. I believe strong heartily this was just another Glitter/ Charm bracelet type era and she’ll soar again with a some-what TEOM this time around cause her concerts have been recieving great high reviews.

  3. BOOBIE September 6, 2016

    She can keep it

  4. Theman September 6, 2016

Everyone hasn’t been working with “The Weeknd” though..

    • Blue Ivy Rod September 6, 2016

DRake, Bey, Ed Sheran, Wiz, Dolla and now Rumored Mariah, Kanye, Future, Rae S, Usher, etc…

      • Lmfao_Hoe September 6, 2016

@Blue exactly, that’s too much overexposure truthfully.

  5. Sean September 6, 2016

#Beautiful was her first song since WBT that deserved to be a #1 smash and for some reason it didn’t do anything. Miguel was perfect and the song was mature retro soul that was the perfect lane for Mariah. Unfortunately it’s hard to be an over 40 diva and still expect to be heard on the radio even when the material is strong (see Madonna, Janet, Whitney etc). Even a blockbuster album no longer guarantees radio play bc Bey should have been everywhere and she’s been MIA from pop radio since Sasha Fierce

    • TRAVON M AUSTIN September 6, 2016

I am sorry. That is a load of crap. #beautiful went platinum without streams in less than 3 months after release and was certified in other major markets as well. It was huge on radio and then they stopped playing it. It went top 20 on BB HOT 100 at #15 and was a huge hit worldwide.

  6. TRAVON M AUSTIN September 6, 2016

You haters better stan for the real queen. Fave of all your faves and not even close to retirement. Numbers aside she has so much happening at the same time and the press will eat this album up. People wont be able to escape it. Come thru PR and Marketing team for Mariah. I can only hope for a November release. Empire, Mariahs World, Hallmark Movies contract, New Line Cinema Movie contract,Vegas residency , Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour extension, Queen of Christmas, Queen of Valentines day endorsment deals coming, MAC cosmetics line, and much more. Mariah Carey is booked. Slay them my queen. Mariah you on fia!!!!!

    • Terny September 7, 2016

Yaaas!.. Lol.. Hey Boo ? The Queen’s coming for wigs, scalps & Heads this time. Another Song of the Decade just because she can! #LEGEND!

  7. Lmfao_Hoe September 6, 2016

Not gonna lie but I would love it if Mimi could work with either Bruno Mars or Drake on a track.

    • GODRIAH September 6, 2016

Now that would be fantastic!!!! Bruno and Drake are very influenced by Mariahs work and it would seem very natural the record that they would produce. Plus it would sell lilt hot asked big time lol.

    • TRAVON M AUSTIN September 6, 2016

I will be floored with happyness and scalped with tears if that actually happens.OH MY GAAAAAWWWWDD??

      • Lmfao_Hoe September 6, 2016

Yess I’m praying this happens with either one, I asked about a Miguel track after hearing his second album before with Adorn and before I knew it Beautiful came out so yes Lord please let Mimi hit them up for some features / duet.

  8. Molly #TheMostRelevantBitch September 6, 2016

    Lol.. Girl stop

  9. GODRIAH September 6, 2016

    SLAYRIAH is coming!!!! ??????✊??

    • Fairlane September 7, 2016

LOL@you. Yeah, right. She’ll delay it for 3 years after 10 first singles flop, then when the label finally puts it out after getting tired of the wait, it’ll flop. Rince and repeat. It ain’t 1991. There is no “Slayriah” in 2016.

  10. Wordswithsam September 6, 2016

Always following in the steps of Ariana…SMH

    • Lmfao_Hoe September 6, 2016

Girl bye, I will not embarss you with what Ariana has “TRIED” but of course couldn’t do like Mimi did. Ariana’s recent track Let Me Love You is a knock off version of both The Roof and Breakdown by Mimi.

  11. Meteorite September 6, 2016

Damn, Christina must have a death wish! She has Gaga coming out soon and Mariah! Either she’s bold or crazy!
I’m excited though! I hope Mariah gives me a throwback album. Mature and fine wine.

    • mr.m September 7, 2016

      Gurl bye lol
Xtina got nothin to worry about
has-beeniah and rat-ga got nothin on her
Xtina’s sh!ts all over whoriah and flopga’s voice
She’s comin’ harder, they’ll be slayed, sorry 🙂

  12. Lake Erie September 6, 2016

Lol! Mariah and her classy sarcasm. Lol. Cracks me up everytime, especially at how the interviewer reacts. But the weekend is so over rated to me. I don’t care about a duet with him. I just want new music from her. That’s all.

  13. Gurl September 6, 2016

Ugh! Mario Lopez’s bulge on that bed! Mmm yum yum!
Mariah is so bright and happy, love her!

  14. FC/JC September 6, 2016

    Chile…..

  15. Dem Lessers September 6, 2016

I’m more excited about this than the Gaga single though…and I’m a pop fan who rarely f**** with R&B.

  16. @KurtisLeeSinger September 6, 2016

Yes I would love a Beyonce duet
A Bruno Mars Duet and a Drake feature also
It’s been a while since she has done a female duet and I only see Beyonce in this era who is able to sing with her
And that Mariah would say yes too

    • Diva September 6, 2016

Well….had bridges not been burn perhaps her and Ariana could have done a duet or her and Xtina (which I still want). Vocally Mariah isn’t what she used to be so her doing a duet with Beyoncé may not be likely, unless they lower the keys. I could be wrong but I don’t think Mariah took care of her voice, that or doing an album every year in her younger days has caught up with her. Idk just have to see.

  17. DTF September 6, 2016

Sheer and utter comedy. Pariah is a played out carton of spoiled milk. Her new album is gonna flop to “Infinity” just like the last 2 did.

  18. allkingzmen September 6, 2016

I wish she would collaborate with an entire new team of producers and songwriters. I don’t wanna hear anymore rehashings of We Belong Together or Shake it Off. Jermaine and the rest of the decade crew can keep their stale ass songs. I’m not sure about Mariah and The weeknd because it would probably be whispered LOL! Mariah and Bruno Mars yes! Bruno can SANG

    • JOHNVIDAL September 7, 2016

Yas last time she was with new people like for real was for the Marry Xmas II You album in 2010, and it turned out to be great (the original songs for that album).

  19. eric September 6, 2016

Please don’t let this be like the last release. I can’t take another round of multiple pushbacks, the endless stream of buzz singles, 3 or 4 different mixes for one song… I hope Mariah and her team have their stuff together.

  20. Theman September 6, 2016

Nah, Mariah has been sounding dayum good recently.

    • Mariah Carey September 6, 2016

Thank you dahhling! It’s this bleak diet and special tea that I’ve been on for my throat.

  21. True Lambily September 6, 2016

    Slay these ungrateful ppl MARIAH!!

    • Mariah Carey September 7, 2016

Weeee-ee-heee are lambily-eeee-heeee. I got all my Lamby’s with me

      • Terny September 7, 2016

        You sure do!.. Hahaha ?

  22. Cocoa September 6, 2016

Latin America tour?! Yass!! I hope PigTina don’t try to play the Spanish card to over Godairah for that flop Spanish album she has coming!! Show how it’s done Mimi!

    Faded was so slept on,?
She needs to promote like hell this time around

  25. Justafan September 7, 2016

    Aaaawww yyyeeeaaaa!!!

  26. Biting Truth September 7, 2016

Mariah is so over the hill that she’s now down in the valley. No one is checking for any new music from this washed up has-been of yesterday. It’s going to disappoint, just watch.

  27. OQRAM September 7, 2016

10K first week. She’ll make Iggy feel better about herself.

  28. Xeke September 7, 2016

When you build your career wh0ring yourself to a record label CEO for status, success becomes less certain when he finds himself a new tramp. Po’ Mariah. That ho got ho’d.

  29. The Great Lacefronce. September 7, 2016

When will this chest freezer built whorree stop clinging to younger more relevant artists???

    • Eldela September 7, 2016

She may as well just make this an album of duets and rap collabs with people no older than 30. I can see it now. Mariah Carey, featuring: Bieber…Drake…The Weeknd…Travis Scott…Asap Rocky…Zayn Malik…Kendrick LaMar…Nick Jonas…Big Sean…Silentó. No females though (can’t have that…especially if they’re skinny or can sing.) It’s the only way the public would be interested in what she’s doing at this point. This woman has no shame. She wh*res herself to every young, in-demand rapper/pop star that’s currently trending, trying to exploit their popularity and co-opt their fame for herself. She’s made a career of this since the beginning.

    • LmfaoHoe September 7, 2016

      Stop disrespecting Madonna like that.

  30. Theman September 7, 2016

Lol you have her mixed up with someone else. Mariah made a great record with Miguel & that’s it.

  31. JOHNVIDAL September 7, 2016

Sam always contradicts himself with Mariah. He can very well call her legendary and say her projects are still anticipated despite her age and some other times mock her and say “rip her voice” and stupid things like that.

Anyway, I´ve been waiting for Mariah to embrace new sounds for a long while. I don´t mind if she stays true to herself and keeps releasing the same type of music, she delivers anyway. But a big change would be great and the songs needed to connect with the masses and critics today would be very easy to sing live for her (“Royals” and those type of songs for example).

  32. Avenger September 7, 2016

I don’t care who she collaborates with, I’m not buying it.

  33. Holden September 8, 2016

I swear you stans of Mariah, Janet and Usher are always so delusional when it comes to the reality of right now. Mariah can release music from now until the day she dies, and you can pretend to enjoy as much as you did when you were like 10, but the truth is that she will never “slay” any pop scene ever again. Those days are done. She’s no longer a pop star.
