Battle of the New Singles: Chris vs. Iggy vs. Kendrick vs. Zayn

Published: Saturday 25th Mar 2017 by Rashad

Just as Spring arrived the week sprung on music lovers some of the season’s highest anticipated releases from the likes of serial hitmakers Kendrick Lamar, Zayn, Iggy Azalea, and David Guetta (featuring Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne).  Then, as if the overflow of back to back drops from the aforementioned weren’t enough, Chris Brown unleashed his new tune, ‘Privacy’ (believed to be the first single from his forthcoming opus ‘Heartbreak on a Full Moon’).

Critically, most of the new songs are getting thumbs up from listeners – a review we at TGJ HQ share. Commercially, on the other hand, Lamar’s new tune – ‘Heart IV’ – is the only one of the wave of new releases to crack the top 10 on the iTunes sales charts [where it sits at #1 as of time reported] while Azalea’s, ‘Mo Bounce,’ has bounced to #1 on Youtube’s streaming charts.

As we wait to see how well all the competition fares toward their Hot 100 placements on the refreshed Billboard Hot 100 in two weeks, we turn to you – That Grape Juice faithful – to ask:

Who gets your pick for best release of the week?

  2. Rogue Riches March 25, 2017

“I don’t” is so out of place on this list. “Mo bounce” is catchy but gets irritating after a few listenes. “Light my body up” is where it’s at (Wayne wasn’t needed though)

Iggy and Zayn. I’m kinda over the other ones. Kendrick is cool but his music isn’t really socially enjoyable anymore. It’s more sit at home and play it in the background.

Surprisingly Iggy. Zayne’s song quite nice as well. Kendrick’s is not bad, but I don’t feel the need to listen to it. Guetta and nicki’s song is bland, I don’t remix isn’t needed and only exist because of the feud between remy and nicki

    • CZeal March 25, 2017

See this is how fake news and rumors get started. The song has nothing to do with a feud.

      • XYZ March 26, 2017

As if…Mariah would have never did this remix with remy, if the feud wasn’t on.

  11. Mo Bounce March 25, 2017

Iggy’s song is so catchy I love it!! But to me it’s not doing as well as it should be on iTunes but it may be a slow burner and I hope that’s what it becomes just like “Team” they have been doing so good promoting it through her social media but we’re going to need a couple of live performances to really push this song

  12. HiHiElsie March 25, 2017

They can keep all of it

I don’t care what no one say…music needs Rihanna. No other artist gathers excited for new music like Rihanna. I hope she releases by 2nd half of this year.

For what it’s worth, King K reigns again. Clocking its fourth non-consecutive week atop the Billboard 200, Kendrick Lamar‘s fourth studio album – ‘Damn’ – has competition saying just that as it beat out country superstar, Brett Eldredge, for the top spot. The project, a mainstay in the tally’s top 10 since… Read More

It’s finally all systems go for Fergie! The singer’s sophomore album ‘Double Dutchess’ has experienced a staccato roll-out, dating back to the 2014 launch of “lead” single ‘LA Love (La La).’ Subsequent singles followed in 2016 and then all went quiet. Until now. In a unique move, the Black Eyed Peas front-woman… Read More
