Trey Songz Suggests He Boosted Nicki Minaj’s Career

Published: Friday 24th Mar 2017 by David

Trey Songz believes Nicki Minaj is a revisionist historian.

For, after she insinuated that her unprecedented hype circa 2010 was to thank for the success of their triple platinum cut ‘Bottoms Up, Songz has revealed that he believes it is Minaj who owes him the thank you.

Songz stood as the opening act for Minaj’s ‘The Pinkprint World Tour’ in 2015 and was one of many acts who called on the rapper’s service to generate momentum for their albums before the unveiling of her own.

A world tour that grossed how much? Nicki hid those grossing numbers like she’s hid her surgeons name

      • Nmyzone March 24, 2017

Even if that’s the case, he still opened on that tour and didn’t headline…. so

    • Queen Of Billboard (Barb) March 24, 2017

      Major Ki

  3. LadyEmpress8 March 24, 2017

He’s tripping I see. It’s more like the other way around.

  4. Um. March 24, 2017

I don’t really remember but I think the biggest song she had been on ion until that song was what, Bedrock? I knew who she was and other people knew who she was, but other than her association with Wayne and Young Money, at that time, Nicki Minaj the solo artist wasn’t s***. Massive Attack came and went. So in that way, he’s not wrong. I don’t see anything wrong with what he said. They both benefited from Bottoms Up.

Nicki was on and poppin much before you came along trey and she still will be after you’re done ruining your career coming for her. That is as long as she doesn’t enter any more rap battles and shows up singing?

    • FAF March 24, 2017

I want him to go back to can’t help but wait

Every song he got now is about b****** in the club

    • Um. March 24, 2017

      *up until

you must have lost your d-mn mind.

  5. Everyone’s A Critic March 24, 2017

I skip to nicki’s part and next track when it’s over… same with touching loving. sorry Trey

    • Ashanti Number 1 Fan March 24, 2017

      Ok

    • XYZ March 24, 2017

Actually, I can remember how I did the same with “bottoms up”. Always jumped to nicki’s part, which was the best off of that song.

But whatever, they really both benefited from that song, but trey def does not deserve a thank you

  6. S****** Blonde is 35 March 24, 2017

A bit of a reach but SAMANTHA, how many times do I have to say we don’ twant all these Nicki stories? This is a music/pop culture blog! Nicki is barely holding on to pop culture for dear life. The feud is OLD NEWS! Her songs are FLOPPING! It’s so much else going on in Pop Culture than an inflated HAS BEEN. So SAMANTHA if you want to one day be a .com THEN TAKE NOTES

  7. Queen Of Billboard (Barb) March 24, 2017

Nicki gave this clown his best charting single hahaha she had you as her opening act so who really boosted who? ?

  8. Kwinzy March 24, 2017

I feel as big as Bottoms Up was it’s still not Trey’s signature hit. Maybe to the top 40 crowd it is but for folk that grew up with his music it mos def is not. The truth is Nicki only boosted herself because the instant Trey went back to make that good ole R&B music like the true artist he is, that very same “Top 40 crowd” paid him dust. The fact Trey didn’t use Nicki’s sellout formula gets him the W.

    • Queen Of Billboard (Barb) March 24, 2017

No one checking for trey Nicki put him on so deal

    • Credits March 24, 2017

Wait…you actually listen to trey? After ‘I can’t help but wait,’ trey was only good for his Drake feautures. And I’m not a Nicki or Drake Stan.

    • Credits March 24, 2017

And I really don’t think people actually ‘grew up’ to his music. He never had that sort of impact the way usher did or R.kelly back in his day.

      • Kwinzy March 24, 2017

If you a fan of mid 2000s R&B then you grew up with Trey too. Give the nicca some credit. I never liked Bottoms Up for obvious reasons but Nicki aside, the sound just doesn’t fit Trey. Any dude could’ve hopped on it to have a hit, it’s generic af. We’re not about to take away his creative artistry because Nicki’s arrogant ass got HERSELF some plaques. That’s disrespectful. He had a 2x platinum top 10 smash with Fab on Say Aah prior.

    • Credits March 24, 2017

@kwinzy. I’ll give credit where credit is due. Outside of his singles, ‘just gotta make it’ ‘leave’ and ‘can’t help but wait.’ His albums never did much for me. And I may be missing a few singles but it was never in the way i could listen to a Chris brown album from start to finish (everything pre Rihanna).

  9. boomkack123 March 24, 2017

for him to say “she didn’t have s*** before that” is a REACH!!. Yeah it was a hit, but she was already making big waves before that

    • Kiii March 24, 2017

Like what? What are these “big waves” you speak of…

      • Remy Ma speaks the truth March 24, 2017

I think she’s talking about Massive Attack

  10. Fancy BISH March 24, 2017

I’m obviously not the biggest Nicki fan in the world, but Trey Wrongz certainly didn’t boost her career lol…hell, I don’t even know any of his SONGZ like that! Isn’t he a bootleg R. Kelly? Didn’t Drakesha end him? I’m still trying to figure out how he made it this far…it’s time for the music industry to treat the guys like they do the girls! Trey out here flopping left and right with a dry wig, stop playing lol

  11. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy March 24, 2017

This n*gga is a poor mans Ralph Tresvant with a career that ended when 106 & Park did. Yes Bottoms Up was nice hit, that stalled at #10 on the Hot 100 mind you, but it is NO WAY responsible for any success Nicki had. Now Nicki is currently taking L’s as her career is almost over, but when she first came out there was NO ONE hotter at that moment in 2009/2010. He’s such a pretentious f*ck to even utter such a comment.

    • Fancy BISH March 24, 2017

I love me some Ralph Tresvant chile lol…as for Trey, I don’t know ha

  12. Beyond Amazing (Cause Bey Really Is!!!) March 24, 2017

I might not like her but I can’t sit here and act like Nicki wasn’t poppin’ before that remix. Trey is the one that should be greatful to Nicki because that was his first crossover hit songs needs to hush. At that time he always plays the back to Chris Brown and he still does.

  13. Stephy March 24, 2017

Another “artist” that puts out trash. Right along with Onigggga

    • Queen Of Billboard (Barb) March 24, 2017

Atleast they aren’t on crack like the corpse in your avi.

      • Fancy BISH March 24, 2017

Don’t do it, Queen Of Entries (Barf) lol

      • Queen Of Billboard (Barb) March 24, 2017

Shouldn’t you be streaming Mo Flops?

      • Fancy BISH March 24, 2017

        I AM B**** lol

      • Stephy March 24, 2017

Whitney Houston on crack >>> ONIGGGGGER! lol

    • Iamdiego March 24, 2017

They should have asked him when is the last time he has had a multi platinum single. Or whats the last album of his that actually hit gold or platinum status. He is only a little talented but with some voice lessons he could make it work. Trey is not bad to look at but his attitude is s***. If you don’t give a f*** WhY are you making her more famous. Right now he doing the keke palmer.

  14. Acquired tastes March 24, 2017

Trey was doing his thing…2 different artists two different lanes

  15. DanYiel Iman March 24, 2017

Still a fan of Trey Songz & Tricki Garbagh style is WACK! We’ve seen it before aka Lil’Kim ? ?

  16. Gocrazy March 24, 2017

    Wow cool

  18. Isaiah March 25, 2017

It’s funny when people say her songs r flopping she will never flop beeeleeee me! Tray sit yo ass down the proof is in the numbers baby boy

  19. JD March 25, 2017

I’m starting not to like him, he used to be so hot and s***, now he is just so full of himself, full of nothing! His last good album was passion, pain and pleasure (although I liked Trigg a, for a short while). It had a concept, it was dynamic, the song with Keri in the video was amazing…. now he is so corny, he is a pimp, he thinks that he is worth way more than what he is actually worth. Not attractive.
