On her new album…

Sonically, I know what the album’s about to sound like. I know what this album is gonna mean to my fans. This album is everything in my life coming full circle and me being truly, genuinely happy. It feels almost like a celebration. The last album, ‘The Pink Print,’ was almost like my diary, closing the chapter on certain things and not knowing if I was happy or sad about beginning new chapters. I was really writing about feeling unsure. Now, I can tell you guys what happened for the last two years of my life. I know who I am. I am getting Nicki Minaj figured out with this album and I’m loving her.

On her impact…

Kanye once said to me“ ‘Every girl I hear rap, I can hear Nicki in her rap.’ I didn’t ask him who, but that was such a great compliment. Because sometimes you think you’re the only one that can hear those types of things. I kind of love that I’ve had to go through so many hurdles to get where I am because I feel like I deserve it.” She is frank about what she has been up against. “I had so much going against me in the beginning: being black, being a woman, being a female rapper. No matter how many times I get on a track with everyone’s favorite M.C. and hold my own, the culture never seems to want to give me my props as an M.C., as a lyricist, as a writer. I got to prove myself a hundred times, whereas the guys that came in around the same time as I did, they were given the titles so much quicker without anybody second-guessing.

A release date for the LP is yet to be announced.

    Such a cool female rapper..

    • China October 16, 2017

Could this be because. SHE DIDN’T WRITE ANY OF HER RAPS???

    • RIHLUV October 16, 2017

TRUTHFULLY, I BELIEVE THE ONLY THING HOLDING HER BACK FROM GETTING HER CREDIT IS HER LACK OF MENTION OF KIM. SOMEONE SO INSTRUMENTAL IN CREATING AN IDEA THAT NICKI MADE HER OWN…IT WOULD MAKE HER SO MUCH MORE REAL. BECAUSE SHE IS CORRECT SHE HAS DONE ALOT FOR THESE NEW RAPPERS BUT SOMETHING ABOUT HOW SHE BLATANTLY REFUSES TO GENUINELY ACKNOWLEDGE KIM WILL ALWAYS BE WHAT SETS HER BACK….KIM IS A BELOVED LEGEND , WHETHER PEOPLE CRITICIZE HER LOOKS OR WHATEVER. SHES A STAND UP B****. I LOVE THEM BOTH BUT NICKI SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING. CONGRATS WITH ALL THE SUCCESS THO NIC , ” YOUR DOING AMZING SWEETIE ” LOL.

We would acknowledge you if you have given Lil Kim her props and recognize her as an influence

There’s threads on Twitter of Nicki Minaj not only given Lil’ Kim her props (TGJ even reported on NM talking about Kim’s influence on her/ with Lil’Kim responding back with shade in 2013) but also other female rappers before and after her.

Too bad for you, that no longer matters. She’s not a NEW artist anymore. Y’all can’t try her. It’s been 10 Years Of Nicki Minaj and she’s still the best in her lead. She’s seen girls come and go just like other Legends.
      #NM4 is coming.

She gave Lil Kim props even after the beef y’all just chose to ignore it so move along.

How Tf Is Nicki Expectin’ Credit When Nicki Did Not Credit The Right People? LiL Wayne Is Valid & Im Not Buyin’ Too Much On Lauryn Hill, But Foxy Brown? LiL Kim Was A MAJOR Impact To Nicki’s Career. Girl, I Know You Wanted Your Own Lane & Be An Original Rapper, But You F***** That Up By Not Admittin’ Your Inspiration Of LiL Kim The CORRECT WAY, Creditin’ Those Whom Pave The Way, Dissin’ & Sub Shottin’ Past & Current Female Rappers. Her Past Interviews Showin’ “Love” & Mentionin’ Female Rappers Didn’t Add Up To Her Actions Nor Did It Add Up Through Her Music. Don’t Believe Me? Go On YouTube & Look Up “Playtime Is Over Nicki Minaj” From Part 1-7. Nicki Will Not Make A Public Apology, But There Are Other Ways To Apologize. If Nicki Wants To Be Taken Seriously, Do Somethin’ Empowerin’ For Other Female Rappers; Make Music With Other Female Rappers, Add LiL Kim To Your Album Tracks, Add A Bar Or 2 From Another Rapper Like Queen Latifah That Compliments Your Current Tracks, Converse, IDK DO Something.

    • Ronnie October 16, 2017

There are old videos of Nicki, before fame, giving credit to the same people she credits now so what are you talking about? She quoted Lauryn for her high school year book, and has brought out Foxy on tour. And if she did name drop Kim y’all would still find a way to turn it into shade or she’s not being genuine so why waste her time doing so. At this point if you’re not a fan of Nicki then thats fine but saying she can’t be taken seriously is straight delusional being she’s been the most successful and consistent female rapper for this generation.

      • TAMMAH October 16, 2017

& Guess What, In 2003, Nicki Was Subbin’ Kim In Her Track Hoodstars & Who Run This. Nicki Didnt Meet Kim Until 2007-2008. I Don’t See How You “Fans” Don’t See Past The Smokes & Mirrors. The Reason Why I Said Im Not Buyin’ Too Much Of Lauryn Hill Or Foxy Is Because I See No Influence Affected By Nicki’s Career. Yes, Nicki Quoted Lauryn On Her Yearbook, But If You Have A Major Influence On Someone, It Will Be Obvious & It Will Show. I Don’t Recall Nicki Sayin’ A Bar Or 2 Lauryn said On Her Tracks. I Don’t Hear A Foxy Flow Or Beats That Had A Foxy Feel On Nicki. The-Dream’s Influence Is Prince & You Can Hear It. Ciara’s Influence Is Janet & U Can See It. Beyonce’s Influence Is Tina Turner & U Can See It. So You Gonna Tell Me Nicki’s Influence Is Lauryn Hill & Foxy & U See It? We All See It, But For Some Reason, Nicki Will Not Admit It. Wht I Meant About Bein’ Taken Seriously, I Meant As Far As Her Bein’ Genuine & Showin’ Love To Ppl Who Paved The Way For Her To Be Who She Is Now. There’s Nothin’ Wrong With That.

I’m wit the others this is why black chicks gotta start ditching that blonde look every girl is not fit for it or do it tastefully cause this the Nikki that I LIKE, she looks good and natural and like the nikki that came on the scene… But when she get on stage she does unnatural things with her hair body and speech idk but right here she look dope…

  11. LIL’ KIM BIRTHED YO FAVES October 16, 2017

This chick is a fraud. She wants to be acknowledged as the first female rapper to do it when she stole Lil’ Kim’s entire swag and presented it as her own. She will never be acknowledged as a rapper while she trying to steal Lil’ Kim’s legacy and pretend that she invented things that she didn’t event. This chick is a thief.

If Nicki came out and gave Lil’ Kim her props for inspiring her, people would be much more willing to give her credit for things she does. But she poo poos Lil’ Kim while complaining that people don’t recognize her. She is a fraud. She thinks it’s bad now. It will only get worse. The industry is going to turn on her worse than she tried to make them turn on Lil’ Kim. KARMA ALWAYS COMES BACK AROUND!

      sigh please stop.

  12. October 16, 2017

Queen nm is looking good, and good interview.

  13. Miss J October 16, 2017

Swaggerjacking Sade’s trademark look. Nothing new about this chic borrowing somebody’s look.

    • October 17, 2017

it’s the cool thing for some of you to be ignorant now.

  14. Lake Erie October 16, 2017

Smh… I’m reading through the comments puzzled lol. If you all think Nicki really gave Kim some sincere props, you’re DUMB. Those “Props” were pure patronizing gestures. Funny part is, she dissed Kim before those “so-called props” and even afterwards AGAIN… The second interview excerpt is kind of funny though. Sounds like she really wants people to know that she’s a rapper, and Kanye is someone who has vouche’d g or him .

    • Lake Erie October 16, 2017

      *for her*
