‘Melodrama’: Lorde Album Secures Silver Certification

Published: Tuesday 23rd Jan 2018 by David

Lorde‘s ‘Melodrama‘ is making sweet moves in the United Kingdom despite failing to fly in the United States.

Brilliant news for the Pop ‘Royal’ below…

The star’s second album hit retailers on June 16th and opened with pure sales of 82,000 units in the U.S.

Since then, the project has struggled to maintain its momentum and has been generating modest numbers every week since its unveiling.

Fortunately, it’s performing much better in the United Kingdom where it has now been certified Silver!

The set has sold 60,000 units in the market to date with help from its lead single ‘Green Light’ which was co-produced by Kuk Harell who also contributed to the creation of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies.

‘Light’ has moved over 1 million units in the United States and over 400,000 copies in the U.K.

Word on the street is she won’t attend the Grammys…chile, it’s a mess! The Grammys didn’t even want her to perform! GIRL, the politics are REAL..her team is unhappy! That’s the piping hot tea, but you didn’t hear it from me ☕️ ? ☕️ ? lol

She deserves a Grammy – her first album was a mess, this one was a cohesive body of work, containing some classy Pop ??

Melodrama is her best album, Green Light is an amazing song, Pop girls wish they could have an ounce of the talent she has.

I didn´t know you respected her like this AT ALL. Especially I didn´t think Green Light could be your type of song.

Not that bad for current climate and the thing that matters is that it is a fantastic album from someone so young. her first was already great too. The critical acclaim has been big.

Lorde’s “Melodrama” is an exquisite work of art. She would have to edit just about any track on it in order to get it to fit a commercial pop radio format in the United States, where playlists are decided by account executives more so than by music appreciators. Her music doesn’t sell market brands. That’s actually a good thing. I travel around the country and listen to pop radio. She isn’t in rotation on any station in the U.S. I’m surprised that music this good even got a Grammy nom.
