Ok lets not get hung up on the starting price. That is not how auctions work. The bank owns the home now and banks ALWAYS have a reserve price when their properties go up for auctions. The reserve price is not disclosed but 98% of the time the reserve price is at least the amount of the mortgage that was taken out against the property plus the property taxes. Writing an article with the headline “Lil Kim Home Sold For $100” is very misleading and quite impossible with all the investors out there bidding against each other. If Kim paid 3 million for the property that is going to be the least amount the bank will accept so either somebody coughs up the 3 million or the bank will win the property back at the auction.
