Mariah Carey Wins Defamation Lawsuit

Published: Friday 31st Aug 2018 by David

Mariah Carey has come out on top once again.

Good news for ‘The Roof’ performer below…

A South American concert promoter found an enemy in Carey after she allegedly cancelling concerts she’d promised to deliver to her fans in the market.

Her reason? She didn’t receive proper payment which forced her to pull the plug on the shows and take legal action against the promoter,FEG Entretenimientos S.A, who countersued her by with a defamation suit in response to a tweet she published condemning them.

Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be canceled. My fans deserve better than some of these promoters treated them.

The company asked for $3 million…$1 million because she cancelled and $2 million because they felt she defamed them.,

Unfortunately for them, a judge ruled in Carey’s favour.

The  judge in the case dismissed the defamation claim against the singer, and noted that her tweet was an “opinion.” He explained that the words “deserve better” are vague and did not damage the promoters.

Mariah is personally clear of the $2 million claim, however her entertainment company is still possibly on the hook for the remaining $1 million for the botched performances.

Do you think she was in the wrong?
