Many may only know her for her portrayal of R&B diva Brandy‘s mother on the hit series ‘Moesha’, but most know that actress Sheryl Lee Ralph prints her name atop a resume of accolades and accomplishments that only seems to grow as each year passes.
The Tony-award nominated veteran’s four decade-long career has featured work spanning across television and film to Broadway stages – highlighted by the original 1982 musical ‘Dreamgirls’. Accented by the Jamaica bred beauty’s philanthropic efforts, now Ralph’s newest effort will see her join ‘Dreamgirl’ progeny Jennifer Hudson aboard NBC’s hit musical drama ‘Smash’.
Chatting exclusively with That Grape Juice, Ralph dishes on her role opposite J.Hud, rumors that she and Brandy are beefing, working with Beyonce, and so much more! You won’t want to miss this:
With a career spanning over twenty years, and a legacy that’s served to inspire even her strongest of her contemporaries, Brandy‘s run at the top has been groundbreaking to say the least.
So, as to inspire another generation of performers, the ‘Wish Your Love Away‘ beauty has taken to MTV’s ‘This Is How I Made It‘ for a moving tell all on her journey to the top, and the trials and tribulations she has overcome while there.

We asked…and boy did you answer! With a whopping total of over 12,000 votes, the faithful fans of Adele, Beyonce, Brandy, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Jazmine Sullivan, and Rihanna more replied in droves to support their favorites in this vocal contest.
One of our best yet, we asked ‘Who is the Vocal Bible of this generation’? Who is, so to speak, the textbook of vocal prowess for this generation and those after it to follow?
Trailing the steps of legends Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and more, the divas selected for this showdown have proven themselves to be at the top of their respective games – showing off a range, power, and control absent from many of their chart competitors.
Without further adieu, your choice for vocal supremacy awaits:
One’s a stage blazer, the other a vocal bible. Yet, Ciara and Brandy‘s paths met in the middle yesterday on the set of hit BET show The Game. All smiles, the ladies shared the shot above on their respective Twitter accounts.
Set to debut in March, the sixth season of the cable hit sees B-Rocka reprise her main-cast role of Chardonnay, while it is believed that Ciara is making a cameo.
In both cases, the show is a good look. More than ever before, the music industry requires an artist penetrate many arenas for longevity. Hence, it’s great to see both ladies doing just that – together.
The turn of the century has unfortunately been accompanied by an under-appreciation of true vocalists. Veritably, it has been clear to see that as production technology has increased its ability, inversely, quality vocal performances have decreased.
Turn on the radio today and you will be assaulted by an abundance of autotune, so much so one may question if he/she is listening to real people or The Transformers…
