RIAA: Brandy Earns First Gold Single Since 1998 with Daniel Caesar Duet ‘Love Again’

Published: Friday 9th Sep 2022 by Rashad

Is Brandy finally getting love again from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)?  Their recently updated log suggests the answer is a resounding “yes”!

Details inside.

Brandy Norwood may be known for delivering some of the most beloved R&B hits and vocal performances of the last 30 years, but the songstress hasn’t always seen that critical acclaim reflected at the RIAA.

Before taking to press on September 7 to announce her Daniel Caesar duet, ‘Love Again,’ had been certified Gold, the last update attached to her timeless catalog came in 2004 during the era that supported her ‘Afrodisiac’ album released that year.

With its Gold certification (which denotes sales of 500,000 units in the United States alone), ‘Love’ becomes B-Rocka’s first single to be certified as high since 1998’s history-making, chart-topping ‘The Boy is Mine’ with Monica.  At writing, that Darkchild-produced classic sits at 2x Platinum status – meaning it’s sold 2 million copies in the U.S.

Beyond being a fan favorite, ‘Love Again’ already earned milestone status in Norwood’s prized discography.  Released in 2019, the song – featured on her seventh studio album ‘B7’ – became her first #1 hit on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart when it topped the tally in November that year.

It’s always worth noting that RIAA logs are not always the most up-to-date reflection of an artist’s true commercial performance as the act’s label typically pays for the costs associated with sales verification audits.

Like many performers whose debuts preceded the digital and streaming eras, Brandy’s sales figures haven’t been updated in years – which suggests she has a number of other tunes at least eligible for Gold, Platinum, or multi-Platinum status.

Wow, since 1998? Regardless, Brandy does not have one bad album to her name.

Since I know the comparisons will come…….
Monica’s ‘commitment’ is eligible for Gold.
And her ‘Friends’ video has over 13 million views, not bad for an independent R&b artist from the 90s.

Monica keeps these b****** pressed , mainly Shayla big ugly ass who mentions her on every post. Let these gnats know that Ms. Arnold still has her foot on necks. They more worried about the album than we are. Legend s*** only 💯

Monica fans are pathetic, Commitment isn’t certified in anything. The site that posted that was fake news. I seen it with my own eyes and it wasn’t RIAA..lmaooo
