The stars came out in full force last night for the Jenesse Center’s 30th Anniversary Silver Rose Gala, which took place at the Beverley Hills Hotel in California. Check out Jamie Foxx posing it up with the event’s host Halle Berry, as well as Leona Lewis and Alicia Keys – who served as one of the night’s performers.
R&B star Monica is set to follow-up her Urban smash ‘Everything To Me’ with new single ‘Here I Am’. Confirming the news just moments ago on Twitter, the Grammy winner also revealed that she and label-mate Jamie Foxx have put an interesting new twist on the song, alluding to a re-worked / collaboration serving as the single version.
To say I’m ecstatic would an understatement! From the standpoint of yours truly, ‘Here I Am’ is not only Monica’s best offering on her ‘Still Standing’ LP, it’s one of her best songs period. Besides the stunning vocals and production (courtesy of Polow Da Don), the purely R&B track is lyrically on another level; something which lends itself to some great video concepts.
With ‘Still Standing’ selling another 80,000 copies in its 2nd week, it’s fair to say that Monica is doing it BIG all over again. It honestly is great to see R&B making a comeback, and Monica serving as the face of it’s revival. Awesome.

Legendary producer Quincy Jones assembled over 80 artists at in Los Angeles last night to record the 2010 version of ‘We Are The World’ in support of Haiti. The session, which has been spear-headed by Jones and Lionel Richie, who together with the late, great Michael Jackson fronted the original 25 years ago, was recorded at the Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood – the same place the 1985 version was recorded in. Look out for the track’s debut during the Winter Olympics later this month.
Stars who recorded during the session for the new version included:
Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Kanye West, Celine Dion, Lil Wayne, Barbra Strisand, Wyclef, Pink, Gladys Knight, Justin Bieber Akon, Snoop Dogg, Mya, Brandy, Robin Thicke, Tyrese, Trey Songz, Jamie Foxx, Toni Braxton, Kid Cudi, LL Cool J, Keri Hilson, will.i.am, Nicole Scherzinger, among others.
Interestingly, though Michael Jackson’s original vocals will not feature, the Jackson family will have a presence on the track; with Janet Jackson confirmed to record and submit her vocals remotely, and some members of Jackson trio 3T also present during the session.
Tidbits: It’s also been reported that Lady GaGa will be featuring on the track in some capacity. Like most, though, I am wondering where Beyonce is…

Jamie Foxx has been hard at work on his next studio album. One of the songs emerging from his studio sessions is ‘Quit Your Job’, which was written and produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Foxx’s new album hits stores later this year.
This song definitely has The-Dream and Stewart written all over it. From the colourful, almost ‘Sesame Street’ melodies to the beat, the record remains within familiar territory for the production duo. Although a nice track, Foxx sounds more like The-Dream than anything else, especially the end when he ascends into his falsetto. Artists need to be careful not to lose their identity when being directed by producers. As proven by some of the songs on Mariah Carey’s ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’ album, it is very easy to get lost in the production.
Jamie Foxx has been busy in the studio preparing his next studio release. One of the songs that the R&B crooner has prepared is the club-ready ‘Straight To The Dancefloor’ which features the inescapable Lil Wayne. The track was reportedly produced by Los Da Mystro and written by Rico Love, who recently revealed to That Grape Juice hat he indeed worked with Foxx on the new LP. Foxx’s new album hits stores in early 2010.
This song is definitely not ‘the business’. With the thick production and the audio effects on Foxx’s voice, it sounds closer to something that Omarion would have released. Additionally, the lyrics “I got my hands on my nuts and a bottle up in the air” are certainly not what any sensible DJ would consider radio friendly. Hopefully this track is merely an experiment because of all the trends that I am sure most would enjoy seeing left in the 00′s, auto-tune tops the list.
Singer/actor Jamie Foxx is currently working on his next LP. One of the songs that will be featured on the album is a collaboration with the elusive Justin Timberlake entitled ‘Winner’. Foxx’s 4th studio release will hit stores in 2010.
This track truly is a ‘winner’. The blaring horns form the base of a captivating melody which fluidly sync into the thumping beats of the verses. If this is the direction that Foxx is taking with his album then I will certainly being paying attention – something that I have never done to any of his past material with the exception of his features (see Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’).
‘Law Abiding Citizen’ hits theatres October 16th.
