Watch: 2011 ‘VH1 Divas’ Updated

Renewed for the tube, the once-annual ‘Divas’ extravaganza roared back into view tonight on its highly anticipated return to VHl. The themed showing, ‘Divas Celebrate Soul’, enlisted some of music’s best soulful divas including Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, and more to rock the reboot.

While some of the special’s later presentations billed less-than-worthy starlets with the honor, this year’s diva lineup is sure to be a knockout with fans! See the ladies in motion after the jump:

Quotes of the Day: Jill Scott Shares Feelings On Beyonce & Miguel Grammy Snubs

The unveiling of the 2012 Grammy nominations definitely got the industry buzzing in preparation for music’s biggest night. While Adele‘s sweeping nominations came at no surprise (though rapper Kanye West nabbed the most nods), the unceremonious snubbing of two of 2011′s biggest R&B success stories – Beyonce and Jill Scott – was met with fan uproar. While the former’s ’4′ did at least nab 2 nods, the ‘He Loves Me’ hitmaker wasn’t getting any love from the Academy – a surprising event given the singer’s acclaimed tour and first #1 album on Billboard this year.

Equally known for her unparalleled vocal stylings as much as her outspokenness, the songstress took to Twitter to voice her disappointment in the Academy’s overlooking of herself, Beyonce, and fellow R&B hitmaker Miguel (who offered his own Twitter rant). See what they had to say after the jump:

Black Girls Rock! 2011 Performances

After the success of its inaugural showing with soulstresses Kelly Price, Fantasia, Marsha Ambrosius,and more, BET readied round 2 of ‘Black Girls Rock’ – a showcase (of) and ode to today’s brightest African American women in various disciplines. And with a bevy of big names joining this year’s line-up (including Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu), the star-studded affair may have even outdone its predecessor.

Though the Tracee Ellis Ross/Regina King – hosted event took place at Paradise Theater in NYC on October 15th, it aired tonight on BET. See performances below:

The Stars Shine for ‘Evening With The Stars’ Telecast

As reported here, Patti Labelle, Jill Scott, and Marsha Ambrosius were just a few of the names lending their talents to the UNCF’s ‘An Evening With the Stars’. The event, also featuring , Musiq SoulChild, Erykah Badu, Miguel, and more, taped live on August 14th from Pasadena, but aired September 25th on BET.

Stream Jill Scott’s New Album

Though still basking in the success of her latest #1 album ‘The Light of the Sun’, Jill Scott‘s former record label home Hidden Beach Recordings is already readying another release. The collection, entitled ‘The Original Jill Scott: From the Vault, Vol. 1′, will hit shelves tomorrow (August 30th).

Jill Scott Set For ‘An Evening With the Stars’

Jill Scott is just one of many big names in music lending support to the UNCF for this year’s ‘An Evening With the Stars’. The event, also featuring Patti Labelle, Musiq SoulChild, Estelle, Miguel, and more, is set to be taped live on August 14th from Pasadena, but will air September 25th on BET.

This year’s roster will join an illustrious list of entertainers (see: John Legend, Fantasia, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson) who have taken the stage for the UNCF cause.
