Remy Ma & Papoose Wedding Is Off; Ma Sentenced To 8 Years

Remy Ma & Papoose Wedding Is Off According to the NY Daily News, the much talked about jailhouse nuptials between rappers Remy Ma and Papoose was cancelled after Papoose tried to smuggle in…wait for it…handcuff keys. Check out the report:

“A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled,” a correction official told the Daily News.

“The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use,” the official said.

Now the 29-year-old Brooklyn-born Papoose – real name Shamele Mackie – won’t be able to see his fiancée until November.

“The visitor was sanctioned by not being able to visit Rikers Island again for six months,” the official said. “He was asked to leave.”

So was Papoose trying to break out his rap queen, whose real name is Remy Smith, from the joint?

Neither his or her camp were saying – but Remy has every reason to be eager to get cut loose.

The 26-year-old Terror Squad rap princess faces up to 25 years at today’s sentencing for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach last July outside a Meatpacking District club.

Papoose was not charged after he voluntarily surrendered the key to authorities.

He was quickly ushered out of the jail and never got to enter the prison island’s Rose M. Singer chapel in which the two were set to say their “I do’s.”

I’m falling over myself here LOL. I mean, what the…

*Update: Remy Ma’s sentence was also handed down today:

Remy Ma has been sentenced to eight years in prison in the shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub

The state Supreme Court sentence was handed Tuesday to the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith, for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion.

Remy Ma, who could have faced up to 25 years in prison, was teary-eyed as she heard the sentence.

She says last summer’s shooting was an accident; an appeal is planned.

Correction officials say they called off her weekend wedding at the Rikers Island jail after the groom — fellow rapper Papoose — showed up with a handcuff key.

Remy Ma’s lawyer, Ivan Fisher, denies the key could be used to unlock handcuffs. Papoose isn’t charged.

Fisher says the two still plan to wed. {Source}

Michael Jackson To Appear At The Grammy Awards

Michael Jackson To Appear At The Grammy Awards According to the NY Daily News, the King of Pop Michael Jackson is set to make an appearance at this Sunday’s Grammy Awards. Check out their report below:
The Gloved One appears to have won a stare-down with the Grammy-givers at the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. For weeks, show producer Ken Ehrlich has been mulling the idea of marking the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s “Thriller” album with a revue that would feature guest stars from his rereleased blockbuster, which drops two days after the Feb. 10 broadcast.

The medley number would include Will.i.am (on “The Girl Is Mine”), Fergie (on “Beat It”), and possibly Kanye West (on “Billie Jean”) and Akon (on “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”).

Ehrlich said he’d do the tribute only if Jackson sang and danced, say insiders. “Michael can’t go along with that,” says a source. “He needs more time to rehearse new versions of the songs. And everything requires new choreography.”

Now, we hear, Ehrlich has agreed to having Jackson just appear onstage – apparently believing viewers will tune in just to see what Jacko looks like now.

Grammy reps and Jackson spokeswoman Lois Najarian didn’t get back to us. But word is Jackson is saving his moves for a show where he’ll make some money – a “Thriller” TV special and a series of concerts.

The Grammy’s is really shaping up to be one hell of a show. Though I personally see it as the perfect time for Michael to put his ‘comeback’ into play, I guess the time has to be right.

Do you think Michael should perform?

‘N*gger’ Pushed Back To Black History Month

nas22 N*gger Pushed Back To Black History Month According to MTV News, Nas’ controversial forthcoming album ‘N*gger’ has been pushed back from it’s December release and will now hit stores in February next year – Black History Month in the US. Check out the report:

Nas had originally planned to put the project out next month, but according to his camp, the album has been pushed to February: Black History Month. Nas told MTV News the first single will drop sometime in January.

I can see that he’s trying to drive his point home, but this has potential to have even more of a backlash than it already has. I’m not so sure it’s a wise move on Nas’ part.

Will you be checking for Nas’ ‘N*gger’ album?

Keyshia Cole – ‘Shoulda Let You Go’ Video

The video for the 2nd single from Keyshia Cole’s sophomore effort ‘Just Like You’ premiered on AOL yesterday (October 4th). I’ve been feeling this Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins produced track for the longest time and knew it was ready-to-go as a single when I first heard it. Keyshia definitely switched it up with the video and it’s a welcome change seeing her get her sexy on. My only (minor) gripe is the random rapper (Amina), who kinda ruins the flow of the song for me. Still, with ‘Let It Go’ still riding high on the charts, Keyshia is keeping the momentum going with this sure-fire hit.

What do you think of the video?

Akon & Brothers To Star In Reality Show

akonbros Akon & Brothers To Star In Reality ShowAkon appears to be the latest celebrity to jump on the reality show bandwagon. He explains the concept of his show ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ below:
“Whenever I’m not in Atlanta, they go out posing as me and everyone believes it’s actually me. It’s so crazy, because everyone seriously believes it’s me. They are going around getting VIP treatment, girls, free food at restaurants, free everything and everybody is falling for it. It’s a real life thing, which has got really out of hand in Atlanta, so I decided to take the situation and make it into my advantage by making a reality TV show out of it. They get my life, all the perks without having to put in all the hard work I do. I’m constantly working so I can’t live it, but they are out there living it.”

I, for one, will not be tuning in to this nonsense. I’m getting real fed up of some of these useless reality shows – the concept is a joke. It’s as if it’s being made ‘just because’. Akon has managed to make (a lot of) money with a dodgy voice and so-so songs, I’m sure he could come with something better than this mess.

Will you be tuning in?
