Leona Lewis held a release party for her new album ‘Echo’ in Hollywood, Los Angeles recently. Yes I know this is post is supposed to be a Leona post but Ciara looked so FIERCE that she needed to get the top spot!
O yeah, Justin Timberlake made a stop at the party too!
Hot on the promotional trail for her latest effort ‘Fantasy Ride’, Ciara stopped by The Tonight Show With Jay Leno a few hours ago to perform current single ‘Never Ever’.
While I enjoyed the performance, I must say I’m hungry for another ‘Love Sex Magic’ live showing. However, as the Justin Timberlake assisted cut has already peaked inside the Billboard Hot 100 top 10, I guess more attention is being paid to ‘Never Ever’.
Tidbit: Look out for our interview with Ciara later this week.
According to reports, pop superstar and recent divorcee Madonna is set to adopt another child from African country Malawi:
Madonna has reportedly filed adoption papers for a second child ahead of a new visit to Malawi.
An official at the welfare department has confirmed that the pop superstar has formally applied to adopt another child from the country, The AP reports.
A second anonymous source claimed that Madonna would travel to Malawi this weekend and have an adoption case heard by a court as soon as Monday.
Madonna adopted David Banda from Malawi in 2006 and has long been rumoured to want another child from the country to be his brother or sister. {Source}
This, I’m sure, will have her critics sounding off again…
Keri Hilson’s serially delayed, yet worth-the-wait, debut ‘In A Perfect World…’ finally hit stores in the US today.
We’re here at That Grape Juice are most definitely feeling the album, yet we’re eager to hear whether you guys will be picking up Keri’s LP. For those who have heard it / have it already, what do you think of the album? Drop your comments in the comments section…
Peep the ladies of EnVogue (including Dawn Robinson) on the cover of the latest issue of JET magazine – in which they talk on their ‘comeback’ with the original line-up. I say ‘comeback’ as such because the ladies haven’t been idle in their time away from the limelight; they have been racking in the cash from touring internationally (they are still a force live).
Believe it or not, each of the ladies are in their 40s. I can only imagine that the stars of today would wish they looked as good when they reach this age. Stunners.
We posted the clip of R&B star Brandy performing at the Pistons v Grizzlies NBA game earlier this week. Since then, the videos of the 30 year old’s performance of ‘Right Here’ and ‘Long Distance’ have surfaced. You can check them out below:
Right Here (Departed)
Long Distance
Great performances! I’m really loving how she switches the song(s) up ever-so subtlety each to she performs.
Grammy winner Estelle took to the stage at last night’s BRIT Awards here in London, as the show’s sole Urban performer (rolls eyes). Performing worldwide smash ‘American Boy’, Estelle joined with UK collective The Ting Tings for the performance, which I must say I enjoyed.
In an interview conducted last week, Jimmy Jam, of legendary production duo Jam & Lewis, revealed that he is currently working on the new Janet Jackson album. While not much else in the way of specific info was conveyed, it marks the first time since 2006’s ‘20 Y.O’ that Jackson and the duo have worked together.
I’m really anxious to find out what this means for Janet in terms of a new label…album release date etc. Here’s hoping all falls into place for her this go-round. Say what you want, but you can’t say her post-Superbowl albums ‘Damita Jo’, ‘20 Y.O’ and ‘Discipline’ didn’t have several gems on them…can you?
The fourth week of X Factor 2008 live shows aired tonight here in the UK. Check out my 2 Pence on the Disco themed week below:
{For those unfamiliar with the show; The X Factor is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. The show also birthed the career of a certain Leona Lewis}
The standard of this year’s show continues to impress, although I’m completely and utterly baffled as to why the terrible Daniel is still there (sob story anyone?). That said, my girl Alexandra rocked it again, as did Laura and JLS as well. Check out their performances below:
Alexandra Burke – On The Radio
Laura White – Somebody Else’s Guy
JLS – Working My Way Back To You
Whatever happens, I feel as though both Alexandra and Laura have great careers ahead of them. JLS possibly – this, I say, mainly because of their major following so early in the competition. I just hope the viewing public don’t vote for crappy people like they did tonight (I mean honestly, Daniel and the little boy…no, just no).
Roll on next week, though. The theme has been confirmed as Mariah Carey songs. What’s more the diva herself will be there. Granted we’ll no doubt hear renditions of some of her classics, wouldn’t it be great if we could hear some of her newer material performed by contestants, namely ‘We Belong Together’, ‘Don’t Forget About Us’ and maybe even the so-rubbish-it’s good ‘Touch My Body’?
In Jermaine Dupri’s latest Youtube video blog (from his ‘Living The Life series), lover Janet Jackson took a moment to thank her fans for their support during her period of illness – which forced her to postpone 9 stops on her Rock Witchu tour.
Jackson also took a moment to quash the rumors about her supposedly dumping him, after he supposedly vomited on her lap.
Good to see all is well with them.
*Tidbit: I will be giving you guys on our ‘That Grape Juice Wants To Rock Witchu’ contest later today*
Following Kanye’s debut of new single ‘Love Lockdown’ at the VMA’s last Sunday, the studio version of the cut has surfaced. With the Chi-Town rapper not actually rapping lol, this one really requires one to open their mind to ‘get it’. I’m really liking this one all the same though. Kudos to Kanye for stepping out of the box.
‘Love Lockdown’ is the first single to be lifted from Kanye’s forthcoming LP ‘808’s and Heartbreak’, due December 16th (get them Xmas sales, Kanye!).
Peep Amerie looking fly, as usual, in this new promo pic. The latest addition to the Def Jam roster is currently working on the follow-up to her ‘Because I Love It’ LP, with a bevy of hit-makers including Bryan Michael Cox and Ne-Yo.
Following the reports earlier this week that Beyonce and Jay-Z had secured a marriage licence, there is increasing speculation that the much-talked about couple are set to wed today in New York:
Jay-Z has performances with Mary J. Blige in Massachusetts last night and North Carolina tomorrow – but nothing today.
And New York news organisations are reporting Knowles is currently in the Big Apple, together with her mother Tina and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Michelle Williams.
Jay-Z and Knowles successfully applied for a wedding licence in Scarsdale, New York on Tuesday, and they have 60 days from that date to exchange vows – before the paperwork deadline expires.
The latest rumours come just a day after Jay-Z staged an alleged bachelor party in Toronto, Canada.
Representatives for both stars are refusing to confirm or deny marriage reports.{Source}
What’s more, Beyonce’s former Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly and Michelle, uploaded this joint video blog on Youtube yesterday. Though there is no mention of a wedding, something does seem kinda fishy. Check it out:
Hmm. I guess if the marriage stories are legit, then congratulations to them. With industry relationships lasting all of five minutes these days, I have to commend Bey and Jay on being able to sustain for so long. {Random tidbit: Kelly and Michelle had me rolling…too funny}
