Legend Tina Turner was joined by fellow diva Cher for a special episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show in Las Vegas. As well as performing several songs, the pair were interviewed together about their storied careers, ex-Husbands (Ike Turner & Sonny Bono), upcoming tours and much more. A great interview, I must say.
Your thoughts?
The guys did a great job; they started off a little shaky, but definitely picked things up toward the end. Good stuff.
What do you think of the performance?
Following Remy Ma’s conviction an major assault charges earlier this week, her rumored boyfriend, rapper Papoose, has spoken out – in an email to MTV – announcing that they will tie the knot in prison – next week:“We always wanted to keep our personal lives personal, so that’s why we never went public with our relationship,” he wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. “Right now, I just feel like she gotta live through me. Yes, we were scheduled to be married on a yacht April 27th. But due to circumstances beyond our control, we are now making arrangements to be married in prison.” Click here to read more
Erm…this whole episode seems to be getting more bizarre with each story {imagines Remy in her wedding dress…}
With the release of albums by Donnie’s Making The Band 4 cast-mates drawing closer (Danity Kane – March 18th / Day26 -March 25th), many have been wondering what’s going on with his project. Word has it the 23 year old will drop his debut LP sometime this summer, and he is still in the studio working on the record.
Meanwhile, a snippet of a track Donnie completed with producer 7even (Ashanti, Ja Rule etc) called ‘Dr. Love’ has surfaced. While the uptempo cut is pretty solid, it’s makes it hard to not look at Donnie as a ‘Diet Coke’ version of Justin Timberlake. The song could easily have been placed on Justin’s ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ record. Neither Donnie’s material nor stint on the show has me amped for his album. He’s gonna need to come a little less predictable than this.
Upon listening to Rihanna’s third album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ it is immediately apparent that – as the title suggests – the Bajan star has shed her innocent image and replaced it with a more sexed-up/edgier sound. The resulting tracks, however, are an unevenly balanced collection of great songs and tracks that are average-at-best. The album also suffers from a distinct aura of unoriginality; one of the Timbaland produced tracks ‘Rehab’ sounds too much like Justin Timberlake’s ‘What Goes Around’. Also, the Ne-Yo produced/featured track ‘Hate That I Love You’ appears to be a mesh of the singer-songwriter’s own hit ‘Sexy Love’ and Beyonce’s ‘Irreplaceable’ (also penned by the star). It should be noted that the production on the CD is consistent throughout and certain tracks are only let down by the 19 year old star’s poor delivery or infantile lyrics i.e. ‘Lemme Get That’ and ‘Sell Me Candy’.
With ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’, Rihanna has successfully managed to distance herself from the standard R&B featured on her past efforts. In it’s place are a collection of songs that incorporate Pop/Dance/Rock and R&B elements. Having noted these, the tracks, themselves, are too inconsistent- varying from excellent to filler – and at times the CD feels gimmicky. Rihanna will have to do more than deviate from the genre-norms in future releases if she wants to establish herself as a viable artist. ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ hits stores June 4th in the UK and June 5th in the USA.
