Hudson Murder Suspect To Be Charged

A month after the killings of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, prime suspect William Balfour – the estranged ex of Jennifer’s sister Julia – has been arrested and will be charged with their murders:

CHICAGO (Reuters) – The estranged brother-in-law of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was arrested and will be charged with the October slayings of three of her relatives, police said on Monday.

“We have obtained an arrest warrant for William Balfour. He was released to Chicago detectives,” Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond said, adding that Balfour would be charged with three counts of murder.

Balfour, 27, who had been married to Hudson’s sister Julia, was questioned after the slayings but not charged. He was imprisoned for violating his parole on a previous attempted murder conviction, and was scheduled to have a hearing on Wednesday.

Bond would not give details about what evidence led police to charge Balfour for the shooting deaths of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, brother, Jason Hudson, 29, and 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

Donerson and Jason Hudson were found shot to death on October 24 in Donerson’s South Side home. Four days later, King’s body was found in a stolen sport utility vehicle parked on the city’s West Side. A handgun used in the slayings was found nearby.

Amy Winehouse’s Visa Denied; Will Not Attend Grammy’s

It has been announced that Amy Winehouse will not be attending the Grammy Awards on Sunday, as her visa request was turned down by the US Embassy. Check out the report via Yahoo News below:

The Outside Organization, which counts the troubled retro-soul sensation among its clients, said in an e-mail that Winehouse — who shot to fame with the autobiographical single “Rehab” — was disappointed but had been treated well by embassy staff.

“Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery,” the Outside Organization said.

The statement didn’t say why her application was rejected. The U.S. Embassy in London declined to comment late Thursday. Shane O’Neill, Winehouse’s spokesman, said he had nothing to add to the statement.

The 24-year-old singer and her acclaimed “Back to Black” album are nominated in six categories at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

I guess it’s, somewhat, of a shame. There’s no doubt her past drug use had something too do with it. She’s fixing herself up now, which is what’s most important. The Grammy’s will come and go, but she only has one life.

Janet’s ‘Discipline’ Set For February 26th

The surprise premiere of Janet Jackson’s new single ‘Feedback’ on Wednesday left fans and critics in anticipation of more information about her new LP. It has since been announced that the album, the star’s Island Def Jam debut, is titled ‘Discipline’ and will hit stores on February 26th.

Boasting production from the likes of Stargate (’Irreplaceable’), Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins (’ You Rock My World’) and Jermaine Dupri (’We Belong Together’), ‘Discipline’ will also feature The Dream & Tricky Stewart (’Umbrella’) and Ne-Yo on the writing credits. Label head LA Reid will serve as the album’s executive producer.

I keep saying this, but Janet and her team are not playing this time around! Since ’surfacing’, ‘Feedback’ has been tearing up the airwaves Stateside; I doubt Def Jam could have asked for a better public response. I really do foresee big things for Janet in 2008 – showing these young ones how it’s meant to be done.
