If you were NOT moved by Jesse Williams AWESOME speech at the #BETAwards, YOU are part of the PROBLEM!’ – Yolanda Adams
The tweeted quote above seemed to sum up the sentiment of many-a-viewer of the tonight’s BET Awards after ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star, Jesse Williams, took to the stage to accept the ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ award.
In what came as an unexpected, yet much needed address of the U.S.’s ongoing problems with racial tension, Williams sought to redirect attention from himself and lend a lens to the ever-present #BlackLivesMatter movement. Stirring up some major ‘amens’ from the audience and social media alike, get into his jaw-dropping 5 minute speech below:
“Just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real.”?? #truewords
