As part of their Hip Hop Week, MTV2 screened a ‘Hottest MCs In The Game’ special this past weekend. In constructing the list, a panel of MTV News staff that looked at the most prominent MC’s of the past year and took into account the following: straight-up skills, success (both musically and entrepreneurial), impact on the game, an MC’s ‘cool’ factor, and how they carry themselves on and off recordings. As with BET’s ‘Top 25 Dancers of All Time’ list, this is sure to raise a eyebrows. Check out the list:

For the most part, I’m ok with the list. Yet, where were Nas and Fabolous? Also, 50 Cent has no place on there – aside from reason of his business success.

Do you agree with the list

i’m just glad that neither jay-z nor t.i. is number one because as far as i’m concerned they are both wack! common should be in the top 5 definately and nas should be in the top 5! but whatever! it’s straight up politics! nas and common don’t suck up to MTV so they aren’t gonna be on the list! and i mean seriously where is luda? he won the grammy for best rap album? like i said POLITICS!!!!

This further proves that Hip Hop is slipping.

Now these rappers aren’t the worst, but they are not the greatest that Hip Hop has to offer.

Well, except for Common–he’s almost a legend, but the new rappers, to me, are just props–not innovators.

Jim Jones???? LMOA, Jeezy? The Game? Yet no Ludacris? He even got a grammy and he’s has the best witty ‘punch lines.” Obviously a joke.

Hell no. There are some lames on da list. That’s because you have a lot of young kids picking people who don’t have real talent. 50 cent shouldn’t even made the list. Lil Wayne is not #1 they should be shot for making this list
