Continuing along the promo trail for her upcoming ‘E=MC²’ here in the UK, Mariah Carey tapped a special for T4 which aired today. As part of her set, she performed her the album’s second single ‘Bye Bye’ Check out the performance below:
SMH. Granted we’ve finally got to hear the song it’s entirety – which is pretty good IMO – it’s very disappointing to see that she lip-synced the whole performance; not partially – all of it. While I’ve warmed more to the what the album looks set to be offering, I still stand by my claim that Mariah has become pretty much a studio singer – as she either doesn’t care to perform live anymore or can’t. I’m thinking it’s more the latter. Yes, I know the Lambs will probably chew me out, so with without further ado…..
What do you think of the performance?
Yeah that was definitely lipped. But in all fairness, Mariah is the kind of singer who needs vocal rest for her to be at her full potential, and homegirl has been on non-stop promo trail for the last month with non-stop interviews and such so I’m not entirely surprised she lipped it. Not the first time she lipped a show overseas, a lot of people do it over there.
nah I dont think she lipping here her vocals shine out towards the end and it doesnt look like its not been done live maybe the background vocals are been lip. I watched the show and I really loved it mariah is back with a really good album which i cant wait until it comes out
PEOPLE ALWAYS LYP SING ON THAT SHOW…BUT ANYWAY U KNOW MI MI IS A DIVA WHO NEEDS HER VOCAL REST, AND I GUESS SHE DECIDED TO LYP THE SONG….BUT ANYWAY WE ALL KNOW MI MI CAN SING…SO HER LYPING IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD………..I LOVE THE SONG THOUGH
Yeah is it really a big deal if she lipped on T4! I mean everyone goes on there and does it, and if you know much about editing than you know that the way they shoot their program they have to do multiple takes in order to get different angles. Mariah probably had to shoot that song like 4 times in order for them to get all the footage they need. She performed “That Chick” too…but “Bye Bye” is really a beautiful song to be honest!
Performances are usually lipped on shows like that in England. Not to say her voice hasn’t diminshed, but she can still sing.
i would say that Mariah doesn’t have the best voice now. BUT I would never forget that she ONCE had one of the greatest voices in the industry. Honestly i dont remember hearing a decent Mariah performance since the “butterfly” album.
I REALLY dont like this song as a second single. . .although it is a GREAT song. . .something about it doesnt sit well with me songle wise. . .maybe I’m wrong. . .geuss we’ll just have to wait and see!
i just can’t get into her anymore, touch my body took too long to grow on me, her TERRIBLE HORRID BAD SNL performance still have a bad taste in my mouth and i’m just not feeling her! i don’t like migrate, so i’ll wait til her next cd! tho she will sell somethin crazy i’m just not feelin it
it’s just Europe… why would she sing (or when was the last time she DID) sing live over there? Especially when she has appearences the next few weeks, including MORE international travel. Your ass wouldn’t sing on some british show either. deal with it already.
I’m a lamb, but I don’t think anyone should get mad at your opinion. We all know Mariah lipsynchs in the UK shows.
Oh Mariah, what can I say but OK.
FINALLY, somebody notices that since the MiMi album, YES, SHE HAS BEEN LIP-SYNCING, no singing. Moving her lips. It all started with her actually singing and they actually lipping the high notes but soon that went out the window and she just does the whole song. It’s not just overseas, she did it at one of the award shows and the superbowl, JUST FACE IT!
The song is horrid! I’m not feeling what she is delivering this time around.
SAM, for someone who lives in the UK, you should know EVERYONE lips on T4. T4 is like TOTP…everyone lips on it!
Girls Aloud didn’t mime when they were on T4… just as an example that not everyone mimes on the show.

he is still belting out hits and she proved time and again that she can sing live.
and england is NOTORIOUS for lip sync’d perfomances. so don’t trip.

Mariah is not the singer she was used to be in the 1990’s. Her voice has deteriorated, whether that be due to her breakdown, or just because her vocal chords are damaged due to actually SINGING her heart out but she still has the xfactor,and always brings something fresh to the platter… this woman has done it all, shes only still here for the fans really!
