50 Cent: "My next Record Will Sell A Million First Week"

50 Cent: It seems Lil’ Wayne’s recent first week – million selling achievement with ‘Tha Carter III’ has other MC’s itching to emulate the same feat, namely a certain 50 Cent. The G-Unit leader’s 2005 effort ‘The Massacre’ shifted 1.1. million units first week, however sales of his more recent efforts haven’t matched his past success. Speaking to MTV, 50 thinks he can do it again with forthcoming LP ‘Before I Self Destruct’

50 Cent thinks we could see another MC sell a million copies in the first week before 2008 is over: him! He plans on dropping his next solo LP, Before I Self-Destruct, within the next few months.

“Fourth quarter,” he said of the release date. “I got some music. But I’mma make music until I reach a closing date. I’mma stay creative and continue to try and progress.

“I want to focus on the positive, and I feel I’m one of the more vocal people in hip-hop,” he added. “Even when it’s not about music, people pay attention to me, because I have something to offer. I’ll continue to create quality music at a pace they haven’t seen.”

I can’t help but feel 50 is overstating his current level of relevance just a tad. With a dwindling fanbase as well as sales, it’ll be interesting to see if 50 can sell by the bucket-load once again.

Random tidbit: I kinda think it’s a bit soon to be dropping a new LP. I mean didn’t the G-Unit just drop an album?

Your thoughts?

I might want to hold my breath since he has done it before, but those days are over 50. I agree Grapejuice, his fanbase has decreased significantly and even though 4th quarter releases sell the most (holiday season), I still highly doubt he will sell over 1 million. This is the problem with 50, he sets all these standards for himself and comes off so cocky but when he fails to reach them he tries to brush it off and negates his past comments.

He’s such a hater. Damn, why challenge Lil Wayne’s album sales by setting this goal again? He should of learned the last time that you just don’t challenge “respected” artists in the game because he “not respected” has successfully proven that “not all publicity is good publicity” since he’s always acting out of his face with everyone. Geeez, I CAN”T STAND 50 CENT!!!!!!

the problem with music is the demand from fans and the frequent illegal download on the net. 50 can definitely get 1 mill in a week, you guys are thinking so small. He aint targeting black cheap ass folks.

50 MUST BE SMOKING THAT GOOD STUFF IF HE THINKS THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

This is some funny s***. 50 needs to shut the F*** up cause the only reason he’s sayin s*** is cause that’s the only way he can get people to buy his wake ass wanna be fly records. Lil wayne aint have to talk s*** to sell a million records it just happened cause his skills spoke for him. I thought 50 was retiring since his wack ass lost to Kanye??? Sit yo ass down lil dude, don’t speak until spoken to.

50 was cool when he 1st came out and then he started lil beefs w/everybody that just so happens 2 be better than him. 50 should’ve just stuck to what he said during the whole competition w/Kanye, retire and shut the hell up. Wayne, just so happened to put out a great album, 50’s past albums have been sh*t IMO. Wayne’s fanbase is bigger than 50’s cause he delivers.
