America’s Next Top Model To Feature Transgender Contestant

America's Next Top Model To Feature TransgengerThe latest cycle of Tyra Bank’s model search show America’s Next Top Model is set to feature a transgender hopeful. Check out the report via US Weekly below:

One of the 14 girls who will compete on the new season of America’s Next Top Model – which returns to The CW on September 3 – is transgender. “My cards were dealt differently,” Isis, a 22-year-old former receptionist, tells Us Weekly exclusively in its new issue, on newsstands now. Hailing from Prince George’s County, Maryland, Isis identifies herself as “a woman born physically male.”

Will she be a role model? “I like to help people, but I’m here to follow my dreams,” she tells Us.The inclusion of Isis is being hailed by GLAAD president Neil Giuliano as “an unprecedented opportunity for a community that is underrepresented on television. “We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible,” Giuliano said.

Each to their own, I guess. I must say, though, that I find it real apt that, amid talk of the show becoming stale and boring, such a non-conventional contestant has been added into the mix. Hmm…

    so what??
if she’s worth it she can be in the show

im tired of people making a mountain out of a rock just becuz she was a boy in the past, if she looks good and is good model material she can do it, i dont know why this kind of stories get so much buzz

gay, lesbians, transgenrer…they are still people like any other kind of people

and good for tyra for letting her in the show

    YUCK!!! SORRY THIS IS INHUMAN…

    I just hope that he/she doesn’t win.

Tyra needed to do something to spice the show up, not sure if this was it, but it will cause some drama, so this might be a smart play for Tyra.

damn does it matter if its a transgender damn ppl can be so narrowminded about things they need to know grow up and stop hattin gays that type of stuff its really stupid and god doesnt like ppl that hate ppl for who they r maybe yall that hate gays need to read the bible more often

  6. ND August 13, 2008

I aint hating on no gays. (Who’s to see he’s even gay?) But having an operation to change ur gender, is a problem!

I am not narrow-minded either nor horrible. I just have beliefs and this shizzle goes right against them. I have a right to express my opinion on the news and the weather mate!!!

    I dont hate – I simply disapprove.

i think that it’s just fine, but coming from a very conservative family; i find it a little strange.

There is a freedom of choice, but i think this is just going overboard. the show should and must onlyu be open to the female gender. she may be a transgender, but he still a HE in the eyes of God and in the eyes of MANY and that’s the reality, although it does bite.

there is freedom of choice but some are just going overboard. the show was made to cater to females who aspire to be the next america’s top model. though HE is a transgender, HE is still a MALE in the eyes of GOD and in the eyes of MANY, and reality indded bites.

Toledo, you’ve got to keep in mind- even if he is still a he in God’s eyes; God didn’t make the show…so don’t make it seem like from a religious perspective that the sin lies in the television show allowing her on.
I think its great- Whats necessary to be a female model?? Be a hot looking female. I think he/she fits the bill- Doesn’t really matter whats under that skirt- because that’s not any of our business at all… live and let live yall

I AM NOT SUPRISED, ANYTHING GOES IN AMERICA

I don’t see a tg girl as a problem being on the show or possibly winning. As long as she is very passable, who cares. If you can’t accept it, then don’t watch. Transgender people are everywhere and you don’t know it.

  13. jensen August 14, 2008

i dont see no problem either!!! why shouldnt she be on there?

I love the fact that they are giving different types of people opportunities. She was on a previous season when they did the homeless shot. she was one of the homeless people in the background. but at the same time, i am a female and i don’t know if i would be looking at how clothes fit a transgender male. i don’t think she’ll make it that far in the fashion industry. but then again, i thought rihanna was going to be a one hit wonder with pon de replay, so what do i know?

This “transgendered” mess is getting more play the black folks during the civil rights movement….and got the nerve to be talkin’ ’bout being “a part of the population that is underrepresnted on television”.

Those who know the Word won’t mind this, those that don’t will get mad at this:

America is a sespool of ignorance and lack of morality. Wake up! Its not about hating, its about whats correct and having the courage to be yourself. I dont wanna see Isis suffer eternal damnation in Hell. Stand up and be a man! I tell ya…The end days are here and it sucks that the good ones have to be punished by God because people wanna ignore the true laws which are for our own good.

2nd- I thought the Top Model application rules were that you couldnt have previous professionally model experience. Isnt that cheating that both Saleisha and Isis were already featured on the show’s previous season?

so many comments based on religion, and whats right and whats wrong.. well its mighty funny how some people seem to take the portions of the bible that suit them and want to stand up and shout it out LOUD and PROUD… well if we are gonna speak on the bible im sure we should all be familiar with the very powerfull words of… ” thou shall not judge” but then again maybe this is the lord himself in here making all these comments. in that case forgive me father for i have sinned. if everyone would make a good attempt in living and allowing others to live. there would be less time to worry and judge other folks… but there is something else we all must keep in mind, misery loves company. if u do or dont agree with this young lady, and this is how she should be addressed..”YOUNG LADY” seeing as this is how she prensents herself, and she has gone to extreme measures to stand behind what she believes and feels should be her destiny. now i am merely a fellow human as everyone else here, so this is solely a opinion i am stating here. the issue becomes an issue when we start to think that our opinion is everyone elses reality.. u can make your point as an intelligent adult and leave the bible out of it, cause once again the bible says not to judge. she is living her life how she feels comfortable, and by the way if i may add, doesnt affect anyone on this site. maybe everyone should follow her example and live your own damn life true to yourself, and stop using the bible for a means to support your ignorant views.. the bible doesnt promote ignorance or hate… get a clue!!

3rd for those ppl who say stupid ish like “god don’t like ppl hatin on ppl for who they are” let me just say sumthin

God don’t even like who those people are they damn self.

God don’t make no mistakes He made him a man and that is what he is point blank… MALE NOT FEMALE.. This man has some serious issues and that’s my option! God loves him but hates the sin!

  23. Anonymous September 11, 2008

That is a MAN. Just because HE takes hormone shots to grow b****** doesn’t make HIM a female. Even if you believe that an operation to change a body part’s appearance can actually change your gender (which I don’t), HE isn’t even a post-op…HE still has all of HIS original equipment, so how can HE be considered a female in any way, shape, or form?
