Confirmed: Usher Re-Hires Mother

Confirmed: Usher Re-Hires Mother In a statement to the press, Usher’s record label have confirmed that the Grammy winner has re-hired his mother Jonetta Patton as his manager. Check out the report via Billboard:

In a short statement issued by LaFace/Zomba, it was announced that the artist “has dissolved his management arrangement with Benny Medina and has re-engaged Jonnetta Patton as his manager.”

Usher split his mother as his manager in May 2007. He then hired Medina, who was integral in the launch of the artist’s recent album, “Here I Stand.” In 10 weeks, it has sold 948,000 units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It’s the No. 8 best-selling album of 2008 so far.

However, it hasn’t come close to matching the gaudy numbers of its predecessor, 2004’s “Confessions,” which sold 3.77 million copies in its first 10 weeks and is at 9.6 million to date.

Let the ‘I told you so’s’ ensue lol. For real, this is definitely a good look for Usher IMO; maybe not for the ‘Here I Stand’ LP (which IMO was dead on arrival), but for his long-term prospects.

Usher’s Mom Thinking: Well Well Well, look who came crawling back on his ashy knees.
People take this as an example: Don’t make love take you away from the people that were there for you before that lover.
Plus I guess the album didn’t do well huh?

Definitely a good look. It’s unfortunate that Here I Stand has stalled, that is a deeply misunderstood record. It’s not better than Confessions, but its damn close. It deserves better. But that’s what you get when you get married to someone your fans can’t stand and release a tepid first single.

Yeah it wasnt just firing his mother that killed his career, but i think that its better to have a manager that represents few people because they only have you to look after, therefore things are alot less sloppy or you dont end up forgotten, benny doesnt just represent usher benny got his own s*** going on and he doesnt have it in him to be ushers everything and handle his business at the drop of a hat, ushers mother on the other hand was by his side everyday…..but like i said it wasnt just the manager,it was usher’s arrogance,he was too stuck on doing him this album, people think that they can get big and then do whatever they want WRONG you still have fans to please and if you spend time doing whatever the hell you want you can and will fall off…..ask lauren hill,i loved unplugged album but not everyone understood it,she got too deep and very few was feeling it

anyway im rambling now,i think this is a good move for ush,i dont think this is all that will change from him, seriously he needs amo for the next album and soon enough we will be seeing his inspiration, watch what i tell you!! i wont say what i think is gonna happen but i foresee some ish going down in the next couple of months, and it aint gonna be pretty, but it will only make for a better album next year lol

I think he made a good decision.. He should’ve never let her go in the first place.. For the record, I actually like his new album..

Well we all know the only reason why Usher fired his mama in the first place was because of that wife of his. Usher should have never fired her in the first place.

His record sales dropped for three reasons- 1. he publicly fired his mother. 2. His marriage to an older woman turned off younger female fans. 3. This album isn’t half as good as confessions.

Management had nothing to do with it. New managemnt can only try to stop the bleeding you created. NEWSFLASH- KICKING MOMMY TO THE CURB AFTER SHE BUILT YOUR CAREER IS A BIG NO NO. THE PUBLIC HAS SPOKEN.

Maybe Mommy can repair the damage the baby has caused. We’ll See Won’t We

This the first step on the path to redemption for Usher. Now if he could only get rid of…ah never mind.
