TLC is the best group EVER! Usher I’m surprised but for real he do have a few hits under his belt (U MAKE ME WANNA, YEAH, CAUGHT UP, CONFESSIONS, U REMIND ME, MY WAY, LOVE IN DA CLUB). This is the question that Destiny’s Child fans have been asking for months. If we only look at the U.S. album sales of each group, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Destiny’s Child has now pulled ahead of TLC.
Destiny’s Child’s seven albums have moved a cumulative 16.1 million units. Meanwhile, TLC’s five releases have shifted 15.3 million.

Lets just face it the fact of the matter is when OUR artists were big, everybody was not running around buying their music just US. Now that R & B is in, everybody jumpin on the stello wanting to be down (with whomever)these new artists are reaping the benefits.
TLC was hands down the best group ever, because even through the turmoil, they remained a group. No one replaced, and their success was international as well, they have a big following over the world. DC is also big, but they cannot take away what TLC brought to the table. I really do not agree with Billboard at all, been stop watching their awards, the grammy's etc. Alicia is good, but lets be forreal Clive bought her grammy's because her albulm was not a turner, neither was Beyonce's.
A Turner is an albulm that you do not have to skip songs. Mary J Blige, Faith, Aaliyah, Whitney, Babyface, Lauryn, TOni Braxton, TLC…all had ALBULMS that were not appreciated by the masses, just by a certain demographic at the time. But with all the silicon azzes and lips ohh and tits..it is understandable that all of them are vying for the pop appeal to get their money.
It is rather sad because we always knew who the real winners were and the grammy's, billboard etc, have always been racist. In the 80's we had lots of good artist, but we were often dissapointed by the winners. Now ANYBODY can get five grammy's. Although LAURYN was the last albulm that actually deserved them..don't get me wrong Alicia and Beyonce were good but I am sorry anytime Mary is JUST NOW getting what two or three and FAITH(HER FIRST ALBULM)Crazy..Toni too…lets just say..those of use who know Aaliyah's(RIP) Toni, TLC, Mary, etc. music continue to support your favorite artists..and maybe they will make those turners again..

This is list is accurate. I know that TLC has 2 diamond selling albums. DC has none. Their best-selling album only sold 9 million.
BTW I agree with some people in here. TLC was indeed a much better a group than DC. They were original and every member had their chance to shine. DC was just another girl group from the 90’s that was heavily influenced by En Vogue, except most of the focus was on the lead singer. There was no balance to them at all. Also, the fact that there was no other upcoming girl group around them at the time and the fact that MTV highlighted the drama of the members leaving the group back then helped build their hype. They were a good group, but overrated because of drama within the group and we all know hype equals sales.

DC has sold more than TLC but TLC has had 2 # 1 ablums and DC only one (SURVIOR). TLC has also had more # songs than DC3. #1 songs and albums not just hits people. Bless ya’ll poor pathetic hearts…Billboard is based on NUMBERS people…This isn’t a popularity ranking. If you favorite artist isn’t on there, it’s because they haven’t pulled in the numbers to make the list. And these numbers aren’t based on album sales alone, they are also based on single sales and airplay. So there is a lot that goes into this. Overall, TLC has done better in the US than DC. However, DC has done A LITTLE better internationally and therefore they have larger numbers as far as overall sales so that’s how they won the title “best selling female music group of all-time” at the World Music Awards a few years back. But, in terms of Billboard and the US alone, yes, TLC has done better.

To tell you the truth, the internet messed it up for music artists. You’re never going to see huge numbers like back in the day when Whitney, Michael and Janet was at their peak. They didn’t have the internet. People had no other choice but BUY their albums. Now, you can download songs and burn cds. Back then, if you were a successful music artist, you didn’t need endorsements, especially when one album sold 20 million by itself. That’s why you see so many artists today getting endorsement deals because they really don’t make too much money. Now, if they had a hand in writing, they would pull in some money. But, if i had a choice to be an artist today or back then, it would back then.
TLC absolutely needs to be ahead of DC. DC did not even start selling until after they kicked out their original two members then the drama surrounding that launched them. Their first album did not sell and only had one successful R-n-B single(no No No). Also it took DC about seven or eight albums to outsell TLC by a smidge. TLC only had what 5. So it is quite unfair to say DC is bigger…if TLC had had 7 albums Im sure DC would not have more than TLC. Also DC does not even have a certified diamond record hile TLC does! So all you talk about DC should be higher that is simply your opinion, the facts and methodology show TLC is definitely greater than DC!

Also let us not forget TLC has four billboard hot 100 single while DC only has 3. TLC had 2 studio albums debut number one while DC only has 1! The list is absolutely right! They used a methodology while every one else is influence by their opinion! Not to mention, DC was a supporting act for TLC not the other way around. DC only got their first number one hit for Bills Bills Bills coat tailing on TLC’s success of No Scrubs. TLC and DC are both great and different groups but TLC should definitely out rank DC!
For those that don’t want to read how they came up with the rankings…they used a point system for every week that an artist was on the hot 100 or the billboard 200. So basically TLC many more weeks on teh HOT 100 and Billboard 200 than Destiny’s Child’s albums and songs did. Remember CSC spent almost 2 years on the chrats. While DC has had many hits their songs and albums starrting after the Writings on the Wall did not stay on the charts as long as TLC. DC’s first album doesn’t even cound cause it had no hits and only staye don the charts for what a week and a half? LOL! Know your facts! TLC was the greats. DC with 7 albums was not even able to out sell TLC’s 5 albums by more than a million copies. Come on, you guys like Beyonce yea yea yea but she is not the greatest thing when it comes to girl groups.

A lot of the people on here are so stupid. The list is about HOT 100 ARTIST PERFORMANCE, so it’s all about SINGLES CHART PERFORMANCE and has nothing to do with album sales and charting.
If they want to measure album performance it should be TOP 200 ALBUM and the list would difinitely place shania, garth brooks, the rolling stones, barbra streisand etc. high on the list.

Crazy in love was an Amerie rip, Check up on it supposedly had Kelly’s vocals and the chick lied about writing irreplaceable…she is mostly hype and Rich Harrison has gone on record several times stating Crazy in Love was already written so that award was paid for not earned, just like the OScar committee had to pump the brakes on her so called illustrious writing…she is mostly PR..yes she has talent, but most of it is her father’s corporate learned guerilla marketing tactics…hate on that…people are just tired of all the lies…and half truths out of that camp.

Wow, how the hell is Nelly even on the list? Anyway, congrats to Usher for being so high up and so young! Also congrats to Alicia Keys. She hasn’t been out near as long as most of these artists and is already on the list. In her case looks as if talent and music of substance CAN take you far. The list really shows how so many of the artist that are popular right now are just mostly style over substance, no true talent just studio magic, makeup, marketing, and weave.

Destinys Child would KILL TLC vocally, hands down.. But far as bringing something different to the table, being creative, innovative, and having TRUE chemistry, TLC hands down is the better female group.. I like both groups, but I’m sorry DC just can’t compare to TLC in that sense. (and I’m not just saying this because of Left Eyes passing) It’s just the truth. You take Beyonce out the group, there IS no more DC.. But u take Kelly or Michelle out it will still go on… Take one member out of TLC, just one member, and there is NO MORE TLC.
